I received the mag a few days ago and read it already, I really enjoyed the article on the design and production of the Marina.
Thanks Kevin for the membership card (first in two years), I've cancelled my S.O. so will pay on receipt of renewal slip.

Re: Too Many Spares!
Hi Son, Everyone has there opinions and experiences and they are all valid until proved otherwise, as you know my car is not quite standard. When I have a problem I used to dismantle it, find the cause and try something else..........not necessarily BL parts. The possible causes mentioned above have...

Re: Too Many Spares!
This is an ongoing subject and someone made the comment that the condition of 'clutch judder' has little to do with the clutch. These are old cars and nothing is in the first flush of youth and often the aftermarket parts are not very good. Oil on the clutch will give clutch judder but as PHUK said ...

Re: Mk2 1.8 HL Automatic update
Hi Mike, I have watched your posts with surprise and to some extent dispair. I am begining to realise that few people understand distributors, carburettors and 40 year old cars that everyone else has had their fingers in. I watched as experienced people tried to explain how to set the engine up (ver...

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?
Hi Son, I'm not sure if it helps but with my injection system controlled by and ECU it has a air temperature sender in the inlet air box, this will reach 50 degrees C when stopped in the garage very quickly, and that is on the opposite side to the exhaust! At the back of the engine bay is a short le...

Re: Brake shoes
I've been dropping drums and setting the drum back on its axle with a hammer for 40 years, as did my dad before me...................but what do I know, he was a mechanic and I'm a retired engineer!

Re: Brake shoes
A squeel from the brake shoes is often either a build up of dust inside the drum (it can't get out), or the leading edge of the shoe making the noise. 1 - take off the drum and clean it out by dropping the dum face down on the concrete about 4"/100mm. 2 - use a file and bevel the leading edge o...

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?
The Marina towed the trailer to the tip with more hedge clippings and then I wiped the marina down and applied wax polish to all the RED bits! Hoovered out the interior ready for the trip to Leicester and measured up the boot, I can only get 4 boxes in their, so Sunday I need to remove the front sea...

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?
Thanks son, When I feel brave enough I'll climb into the back seat to see what I can find (back problem again). I came across this http://www.holden.co.uk/displayproduct.asp?pCode=080.109 but just as bad for assess to the rear screen I had a new set of Goodyear tyre fitted yesterday, but I'm sure on...

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?
Filled the boot with 5 bags of sand and one of cement from Wicks and delivered it all to my stepdaughters, I used the car as intended. I must get around to washing it sometime.

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?
As far as the grease nipples poping out, I have also had this, as has been said some nipples are NOT threaded, so the solution is to buy new nipples with threads on, then drill and tap for the new size nipple, often they are still BSP. In practise if the nipple pops out then it has not been greased ...
