Re: Old article

A real shame they didn't release the wagon in Australia, would have been a great load hauler with the E6, should have sold well too.

Australian Marina racing

Shannons Club article on Racing Marinas in Australia
Excellent well balanced article on Marinas that raced in Australia, as well as RAC and World Cup. Has some photos I haven't seen before.

Re: Rear side window frame on coupe

Uncle Frank had some made for his ST Coupe. I found the top brackets were the same as the bottom brackets, so used the top ones from a spare set of windows to replace the rusted out bottom ones. You could use the top bracket as a master to have new ones made, if need be.

Leyland Marinas in 1974 Canberra Rally

Video of the 1974 Don Capasco Rally in Canberra, Australia. A team of three Leyland Marina 262s were entered, and Tim Barr-Smith finished in the top 10.

Re: Offerings from Down Under

It appears that both the expansion tank (and occasionally the windscreen washer bottle) were supplied in black plastic from the factory, judging by many of the photos at OzMarina.

Re: Offerings from Down Under

The build code YH2S7 means :-
Y = made in Australia
H = Marina
2S = Coupe
7 = trim code, but 7 is not on the list I have.

The engine code is on the block by the distributor, 14 for 1500 or 17 for 1750.

Re: Offerings from Down Under

The black paint was standard. Leyland Marina Red Six brochure.

I have seen black expansion tanks before, although mine is semi-transparent white.

Re: Offerings from Down Under

Hi Bobby, Looks like you got a good deal. :D I was given this info (from "BigCarl" iirc) for the Aussie "Leyland" Marina (after it was re-engineered for the E6 engine) 025 E2S4A17/8236 025 = Marina E (odd, should be A for Manual or B for Auto) 4S = 4 Door Saloon (2S for Coupe) 2 = Super (1 for Delux...

Why did Audi and Porsche use the Ford 4 1/4" (108mm) PCD?

Re: Wheel size

Anything cast on the back?

Not many BL cars had 4 stud 14" wheels - MGB, Triumphs, Kimberly, Princess iirc.

Re: New club mag is out

Received mine in NZ on Monday. A great read.

Tempted to write an "international" supplement to Matt's excellent wheel article, as Australia and South Africa had very different wheel and tyre options.

Re: Offerings from Down Under

It was only the Deluxe that had the vents deleted, and the two dial dash. The Super had the vents and a clock in the three dial dash. The Coupe only TC replaced the clock with a rev counter and added opening rear quarterlights. Hadn't noticed the difference in the dash trim, will have to have a look...
