Marina 1.7 listed in Presco catalogue, "Rad Cap" and "Exp Tank", same part number ST1 as for Allegro, Ambassador, Maxi.

Re: O series thermostat housing cap.

I presume you're referring to the cap on top of the thermostat housing (at the front of the head, by top radiator hose)? Should be a standard recovery type cap, compare an original one to what's on display at Supercheap (Tridon brand)? Tridon's catalogue doesn't list Marina or Princess, but gives th...

Re: A question for the super nerds amongst you!

Should be the same as MGB - 1/4" BSF 26 tpi, according to here . There should be a lock washer under the nut. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/_Afr8X08-dS4/S7Uhkx4Et0I/AAAAAAAABP8/v_s3zfDnNTw/s400/LUCAS%20PART%20NUMBER%20LRS%2000536%20PRE-ENGAGED%20STARTER%20WITH%20THE%20SOLENOID%20ON%20TOP%20IN%20...

Re: Alternative commercial/coupe seats?

Yup, thought it might be. PB have decided to start charging $400 p.a. for their previously free service, so an awful lot of build threads are now broken. :-(

Re: Alternative commercial/coupe seats?

I have a set of cloth seats from a saloon (probably Mk2), but no sliding adjusters. The reclining front seats have a bracket on each side, with a hole at the front and back for bolting on to the sliding mechanism. They've never been fitted into my Coupe, they were just sitting loose on the floor whe...

Re: how many Marinas left in Ireland?

In Australia, Coupes had the Marina badge on the left, Coupe badge on the right (same as UK), but with a trim level badge (Deluxe, Super, TC) beside it (where the 1.3 or 1.8 badge was on the UK cars). Only the TC had the backflash, the other models had the small MORRIS badge in the centre of the lig...

The engine has a distributor Lucas 24D 41288. Would that likely have been original to the engine as well?
According to this site, 41288 should be a 25D4 from an MGB :-

Re: how many Marinas left in Ireland?

Hadn't noticed that the TC coupe and saloon had different badge locations. Was the badge location common to all Coupes? Did TC saloons ever get the Coupe's MORRIS backflash? http://www.simoncars.co.uk/morris/slides/Morris%20Marina%2018%20TC%20Coupe%20rear.jpg http://bestautophoto.com/images/morris-m...

Modern Motor Nov 1973 article on Leyland Marina 6

Interesting pre-release article on the Leyland Marina 6 (zoom in on the 3rd-to-last photo). Claims Leyland were planning a twin carb 135bhp "Rallye Pack" option. Says the 6 was to get a front swaybar, but afaik they never did. Also has a photo showing an estate that was being evaluated, but never ma...

You might have to ring around the suppliers to find someone who can custom make them for you.

1972 Heatway Rally of New Zealand

This is a fascinating little sidebar to the Marina story. When the Morris Marina was released in New Zealand in 1972, the local BL agents NZMC (the New Zealand Motor Corporation) decided to promote the new car by entering a team in the five day Heatway Rally of New Zealand. Special Tuning prepared t...

Re: Unusual Marina estate

Looks to be RHD. Wiki has a page for Indian registration plates, "RJ" is Rajasthan. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_registration_plates_of_India#Districts A search for that plate shows it as registered in the Pali district of Rajasthan. http://www.findandtrace.com/trace-find-vehicle-number-own...
