Re: 71 TC Coupe on Car and Classic

The Britax Weathershield sunroof was fitted 2 years after the car was built. When BL fitted vinyl roofs often the metal underneath was only in primer sometimes. But re trimming the Jubilee roof did cost a bit but the vinyl had to come down the A pillars to look right.

Re: 71 TC Coupe on Car and Classic

As i said lots of wasted vinyl as the sunroof was trimmed to match but could not use the piece cut out for the hole as it would be to small so another piece was used. Sunroof was done by another person as it required a fair bit of skill.

Re: 71 TC Coupe on Car and Classic

They often stopped just below top of windscreen to save on vinyl material. Loads of vinyl was wasted on mine for rear and front screens plus the sunroof

Re: About to tackle the gearbox, anyone got any tips?

If you strugle to get the spacer out of the first motion shaft try filling the spacer hole with grease and tap the main shaft in to where the grease is as this may hydraulic the spacer out. This technique is used very sucessfully on the spigot bear in the fly wheel. Saves damaging surfaces trying to...

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?

Gave car a good check over as it has not moved for 6 months and hopefully it will be coming back home next weekend Yey!
Brakes and clutch perfect and got oil pressure up before firing.
Needs a good clean and hopefully I can use it on good winter days.

Re: TC Jubilee 1973

"It's a beauty. Came from Aberystwyth but had been in the West Midlands before that from what I can tell. I had to have the driver's seat welded as it had collapsed. Also had to sort out the electronic ignition (optronic) and carbs refurbished and turned. Running sweet as a nut now." This was the ca...

Re: TC Jubilee 1973

What torque are you using to do up the wheel nuts? Only should be about 25 to 30 foot pounds from memory as they should not flatten the natural spring cone in the pressed wheel as this helps keep the wheel on the hub. I thought Rimmers had them? What Jubilee have you got or what is the number plate?...

Re: Wheels

David beat me to it. Stainless all the way. don't have to worry about them again. Chrome plated ones last a year before they show signs of flaking.

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?

Are the floats intact ie. not split or cracked as this would let in petrol and they are no longer a float.
I don't think I could set the height on mine as it was set by the needle alone. But been a while since I took the top off.

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?

Should be able to re-jet the float lids as it is the needle end which wears not the lid.
the needle end gets a groove worn in it and then either shuts off to late or not shuts off completely.

Re: Drive train oil seals

Hi Adz, Just don't push the seal fully home so the lip uses a new part of the shaft. also cross hatch the shiny surface with fine wet and dry to help the seal bed in.
Cheers,
Paul.
