Great stuff as always Chris, ended up changing the union and reflaring the existing pipe. The main reason for the fatiguing/ leaking was someone using a 1/4" union on a 3/16" pipe!

Right, my 76 1.3 has an awful habit of rattling loose the nut that holds the cable onto the starter motor... there may be, unfortunately they are in my parents garage, so i cant look now for a little while. i know they arent minor as i have one of those aswell as my marina!
