I could use one of those interior rear view mirrors? GOL came with some kind of chrome plated effort which is ok but Mk1 suction cup type would be good if you have a spare one? Could get it in Devon?

Re: Too Many Spares!

Hi if your selling any I would like a decent pair of mk1s Cheers martin Their not perfect mind. I gave them a wipe with a sponge which is why they look so good in the pic! Surprisingly their not too bad but just letting you know they'll never be showroom. If you still want a pair I can do them for ...

Re: Too Many Spares!

Had a new tire fitted to PTH the other day and the guy there said he had a few Marina bits laying around and asked if I wanted them. I popped down this evening with a couple of boxes and found he had quite a hoard! 20180704_183840.JPG Amongst some odds and ends were a steering lock barrel, reverse l...

Re: Marina HL - YouTube videos of suspension uprights

I would say it's dry spots in the trunnions. Another thing maybe, is the carpet catching on the steering shaft knuckle down by the pedals?
You should do more vids, you're pretty good with the camera.

Re: Top ball joint question

Ah, so the very early cars just went straight up. I know what you mean now by no room for the bump stop. TTM has late trunnions with early dampers, still with the rubber in them I just noticed! I'm assuming the uprights are early, which as you and Chris said, will give the car lots of negative cambe...

Re: Top ball joint question

Can later arms work with early cars? Can't find the post now but I seem to remember a topic about this. Something to do with later lever arms creating too much negative camber unless the uprights are also changed.

Re: Top ball joint question

That's the kit I used on PTH the other week. Didn't know there was originally a rubber bush in there! When I did mine it had those adapters in there so must have been done once before then. I did think it odd why BL just didn't use the small hole arms to begin with :eh:

Yeah, don't get me wrong, the mag is ace. Nice fresh layout and lots of content in it too. The period adverts are always a nice addition as well, I like those  There we go, a positive comment

Re: New club mag is out

Mag arrived today but, is the print meant to be that small? My recent eye test confirmed I have perfect vision so I can only imagine how difficult it'll be for more senior members. I could read it ok but only just. I'm not having a dig, just bringing up a potential issue. I did prefer the front cove...

Re: Mk2 1.8 HL Automatic update

I remember my red saloon had a notchy feel when driving, as if there was a flat tooth on the pinion that had difficulty engaging in one of the rack grooves. It was a pain in the arse as I had to constantly balance on this 'flat spot'. Lining up after bends it would hit that part and I'd have to give...

Re: Mk2 1.8 HL Automatic update

If I remember, the Escort rings had those wide lips that almost touch the tire like in that pic, whereas the VW versions sat nice and flush to where the wheel weights clip on. Much neater but probably impossible to find now.

Sounds like you have so I'm sure all will be fine . To be honest it's one of my most hated jobs because of the pressure not to slip
Yeah, not my favorite job either. Knocking the seal out from behind was worrying enough!
