Re: New Club Mag - Jubilee Picture on rear!
Hi Matt, What does it need to finish it? Must have most of it done? Dave, My original Jubilee had the bumpy rear valance the same as pictured with reversing lamps in the rear trim. I have seen a mixture of both in Jubilees. But none with the to modern rear lamps fitted. My 1975 1.8 SDL Mk1 had the ...

Re: Black and Silver Number Plates
Smacks of somebody in officialdom changing their mind. What is the point of a vehicle made after 1972, up to the end of 1979, and registered as historic, being legal for ‘old fashioned’ number plates, when they were never meant to be fitted with them in period? And then thereafter you’ve got to stic...

Re: Bit of an Internet wander
The coupe shape has grown on me recently. I always favoured the 4-door but I think my recent personal experiences have affected my preferences!

Re: Another Marina story from journalists without a clue
Incredible that such rubbish is published in a classic car newspaper! Fair enough if journalists give their opinions, but to be so factually incorrect is ridiculous. Classic Car Weekly used to be really good about fifteen years ago, with interesting articles. I think now it’s just about the adverts...

Re: Another Marina story from journalists without a clue
The V40 is based on the Focus platform isn’t it? But with a Peugeot engine? I used to have a C30 that was fitted with the Ford/PSA Group 1.6 diesel engine. Yes I think the V40 still has a Focus based platform, but uses Volvo’s own diesel and petrol engines. Volvo don’t make there own engines anymor...

Re: 1.8HL auto - update
Thought it was time for an update - not that there's a lot to tell. The fine, hot weather in July tempted me to go for a few longish and random drives. I clocked up 200-odd miles over three afternoons. The car behaved pretty well although it got a little too hot when I was stuck in a traffic queue ...

Re: Another Marina story from journalists without a clue
I have the use of an 08 Citroen Berlingo van through work. It rides more smoothly and has more comfortable seats than either my 98 Escort or 2015 V40, through the gearchange is a bit like a wooden spoon in porridge. Actually the V40 has good seats, but the suspension on the Berlingo is remarkable fo...

Re: Another Marina story from journalists without a clue
I think a number of journalists who write for the print magazines are no more knowledgeable, about any car they write about. I actually enjoy this guy’s presentation style, but have stopped watching anything by another YouTuber because of glaring errors even in his powers of observation about the ve...

Re: Nolathane Steering Rack Bushes
I’m curious Chris - is this an age related thing, or a late model Marina related thing? I’m saying this because I bought my Mk1 Marina in 1981 with 48000 miles and sold it in 1985 with 70000 miles without a hint of problems from steering rack bushes, yet it seems to be a real Achilles heel I was nev...

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?
It was a while ago, 2017 I think, but I downloaded and printed off and subsequently filled in a form that must be the V10 you refer to, went along to my local road tax issuing post office and handed all the relevant documents over. It was staffed by youngish people and there was a bit of muttering a...

Re: 1.8HL auto - update
And that part, Rick, I assure you, is a mystery to me too! When I removed the Kenlowe fan and disconnected and took out the wiring to it (all bright green, I might still have some of it at home) I assumed the fuse was there only for the fan, but naturally left the fuse where it was as there was no r...

Re: 1.8HL auto - update
Just re-reading your post where you removed all the fuses, one of the things you said still worked was the heated rear screen. So at the risk of stating the obvious, that’s a high load circuit. Not the kind of thing you want un-fused!
