Re: Engine swap for 1.8
Mainly looking for reliability, not necessarily looking to keep the auto. I think I saw something somewhere about using an MX5, so I'll see what my mechanic has to say about that. Cheers.

Engine swap for 1.8
Hello,
What's a widely available engine that can replace a 1.8 in a Marina currently with auto? It's a North American model, if that matters.

Re: Hazards work, indicators don't?
It's this relay. The wiring diagram is the same as posted by Marina Coupe earlier in this thread.

Re: Hazards work, indicators don't?
Replaced the relay in the photo in the first post with one that is apparently suitable for the Marina, but now the indicator only works for signalling right turns - the left is just a solid light, no flashing. Fuse problem?
Oh, and I got the wipers working again not long ago.

Re: Hazards work, indicators don't?
How do I bypass the relay, or test it with a multitester?
Others have suggested operating the indicators while the hazards are on, which hasn't made a difference yet, although I did occasionally get the faintest of horn beeps...

Hazards work, indicators don't?
Hi all, My Marina's turn signals (and horn) stopped working a while ago but the hazards are still okay. In an effort to work out what might be wrong, I took the cowl off the steering column, checked the connections and sprayed some contact cleaner around the stalks. Now the wipers don't work either....

I don't know why I didn't think of Skip straight away! Turns out he has those parts, of course. Thanks!

Carb and fuel sender recommendations
Hello all, Getting closer to sorting out the starting/running issues with my 1974 (Austin) Marina 1.8. I need a new carb and fuel sending unit, it seems. What would you recommend and where might I find them (bearing in mind I'm in Canada but I don't mind paying for international shipping if necessar...

Re: Alternator voltage
If you fully charge the battery, does it turn over and start fine? If not, the alternator is most probably not your problem. The starter could be tired internally, and also check all your grounding wires. The starter is new, I believe. The battery appears fully charged and using a jump box (or what...

Alternator voltage
Hello all, Been having some problems starting/getting the car start reliably. The battery seems to be fine and my mechanic was saying there's no parasitic draw happening, but somehow the alternator isn't putting enough power through to start things? Does that sound right? Anyway, I'm supposed to fin...

Re: Fuel sender unit on 1.8?
I've sent Skip an e-mail but if I don't hear from him I'll message you. Also looking for an exhaust line and trying to find out what would be a good set of shocks.

Fuel sender unit on 1.8?
Apparently my 1.8 needs a new fuel sender unit as the fuel gauge is not working. Anyone know of a reliable source for one?

Re: Switch question
Cheers Larry. Don't hear much about Morris in Canada or America, presumably went there in small numbers. Be a rare car to own I guess, and getting to be that way everywhere now. Best luck. They were not a resounding success and few of them survive. The reactions my car gets so far range from vague ...
