Re: rebuilding a 4 speed manual gearbox
Piggy backing on this post, but are there any recommended gearbox rebuilders for Marina gearboxes, whether 1.8 or 1.3? And/or are there any stockists of the Marina input shafts? I know these are basically Triumph boxes, and an old Marina input shaft can be built in, but are there any complications t...

Re: Rear brake drum removal?
It does sound as if the shoes have worn a recess on the inside of the drum. This will also be a problem when fitting new shoes so I would suggest that it needs replacing, or careful machining if there is sufficient metal left, which you won't know till you get it off. Once you accept that propositio...

Re: Rear brake drum removal?
Is there a way to unwind an auto adjuster on the rear brakes if the drum is stuck on? I can't think of one. Would you get any extra movement if you released the cylinder retaining clips, I don't think so. But worth a try because the cylinder could move out of its seating, the direction you are tryin...

Re: Rear brake drum removal?
Is it possible that the drum has worn, and as the adjusters have compensated, they have moved the shoes into the lip inside the drum. If they are manual adjusted slacken the adjusting screw and hit the drum frontwards and rearward to move the shoes. It's not so easy with the auto adjusters a the mec...

Re: 'NNN' and the overheat saga
Referring to my earlier post, you can only clean or remove crud from what you can see. After 30+ years the crud could be anywhere hidden behind core plugs etc. There are only a few gaskets that seal the water system, removing the head means the biggest one, with the most individual seals needs chang...

Re: 'NNN' and the overheat saga
Ok, sticking my neck out again with a slightly odd suggestion. Why not drop a couple of dishwasher tablets into the rad! I have read both good and bad about the idea, but I have cast iron pans, aluminium pans and all sorts none of which have no particularly noticeable damage after several years. It ...

Re: 'NNN' and the overheat saga
Coming to this a bit late, but using a standard temperature gauge is less than accurate. It's fed from a very crudely regulated supply, that erratically switches the supply on and off to acheive an average 10v and then a bimetallic temperature gauge. Marina powered Marlins suffer from poor air circu...

Re: Brake cylinders
If your fronts are drum, your rears should be manual adjusters which changes the slave cylinder, but cars get modified.
Any chance of a picture of front and rear with just the wheel and drum removed. It would help identification no end.

Not wanting to put anyone off, but the Marlin Owners Club will be represented there.
They were last year and were particularly commended by the organisers.

Re: brake issues
i have the car running so extra pressure with the servo to bleed the brakes if you have a servo fitted. cheers barry Servo only works if you have inlet manifold vacuum with the engine running. Can't believe that with a bleed nipple open that any additional pressure will be generated as even the sli...

Thanks Chris. I somehow missed the thread when I searched. At least it was me who posted dimensions.
