Re: Retro Rides- What’s It Worth?

Screen drains started to appear in late 1974. My 75 MK1 had rear drain tubes fitted. The holes were there for the front drain tubes but had grommets fitted over them (plus the usual rust associated with the drain tube design!). All models were fitted with the Deluxe type plastic screen trims by 1975.

Re: Retro Rides- What’s It Worth?

I am no expert on values but it seems the most sought after are TC coupés and early commercials. Naturally extra low mileage ones or fully restored ones make a premium.

Re: Retro Rides- What’s It Worth?

1974 with 22k on the clock, red, 1.8 single card, a webasto roof and off the road for a couple of years means it's likely to be this one.

Re: Renzo’s Jubilee

Was it Emery that had the V8 ST pickup and something else? I’m sure he sold them as he realised he was never going to get around to restoring them and bought the Jub already done. Yes Emrys bought it already restored. He had quite a fleet of cars including a really tidy Harvest Gold saloon. I remem...

Yes a good friend of mine is a classic vehicle recovery specialist and he is still working so I suspect the same applies to most who work in this field.

Re: Wheel size

All the advert cars were the WOH ***J press cars, at least two of which had prototype chassis numbers. WOK 120J was a later press car, probably built after they had built the first batches of Bedouin 1.3 Deluxe coupes (which included my car). I believe the actual car that Vanguards measured from to ...

Re: Where is this K reg Limeflower now?

I know the guy who used to own it. He had it restored and sold it a couple of years ago for a decent sum. Not sure who it ended up with but there's no way he would have sold it to somebody who wouldn't look after it.

Do like that Black Tulip TC coupe. If we weren't so deep into the Limeflower one now I'd be sorely tempted!

Re: LCB TC exhaust in stainless

Yep I'm interested. Mine has a knackered 3 branch at the moment. Was going to get an MGB one and cut it about but a bolt on option is always easier!

Re: Top ball joint question

I've never tried a later shock absorber on an early upright. My N reg saloon had an early shock fitted on one side though. The angle the arm sits at is different. If you look at where your upper bump stop is on your inner wing Gareth, you may notice in the surround of the inner wing cut out where th...

Re: Mk2 1.8 HL Automatic update

The easiest way is to disconnect the track rods and turn each upright. That will prove whether the stiffness is in the rack or the trunnions. Grease spilling out (and popping the grease seals in the process...) doesn't mean a lot, as the pin can still be partially seized. They usually are on very lo...

I'm surprised it's still out there! Last time that Ital was sold I was told it had been broken for a Minor.

Re: Jacking points - for trolley jacks.

I usually use the chassis rail where it meets the factory jacking point. On my 25k mile saloon I use the original factory jacking points. On my J reg I will probably use the roof. If I try jacking the underside it's where the jack will end up...

Re: Rear bump stops

Well originals are near impossible to find. I have only ever come across a couple of NOS ones. On a practical level Morris Minor ones will fit onto the axle but the rubber has to be cut down and those are £8 per side. If I could get a proper Marina one I'd be willing to pay a bit more- £15 or so? Th...
