Re: What did you do to your Marina today?
Is that a weakness in the manifold design, or do they rot or weaken there over time?

Re: Fibre glass panels
Special Tuning did fibreglass doors, bonnet, and boot back in the day. Not sure how they did their doors.

Re: Leyland Marina E-Series Twin Cam
I wonder if you could try making them "anti-reversion", without the squared off end? I recall that being the latest design for Mini extractors in the '80s, where there was a rectangular "stub" that matched the exhaust port profile, inside the larger round pipe, that was intended ...

Re: Overhauling the leaf springs
Wonder what the thinking was behind the concentric bushes. Presumably BL did it to improve ride or handling?

Re: Leyland Marina E-Series Twin Cam
My parts book lists two different servos for the early Marina. From what I can find, the servo was an option on early 4-cylinder cars, but was standard on the facelifted 1750 and Six. Not sure if it ever became standard on the TC, I have driven one without a servo.

Chris, do you have a Facebook link for the rebuild? (just in case I can't find it)

Re: Leyland Marina E-Series Twin Cam
If you're referring to your '74, then I think it is one of the mods they did when they created the E6 for the P76. They moved the oil filter from the sump to the block, so I think they moved the fuel pump to the head at the same time. My TC came with a later engine fitted, but with an electric fuel....

Re: Marina inbound, with questions
Check the brake upgrade threads in the Technical section. If I read the tyre size correctly, those are 14" rims, so you could follow Chris's lead with Princess calipers and Audi or MX5 discs.

Re: 1.7 and 2.0 O series compatibility. Replacement or replacement parts
Google searching found this link , a German guy saying he had a Rover engine with LCF10067 on the block and serial number 20T4HH84. Googling 20T4HH84 shows it is a Rover 220 T-series 16v Would it be feasible to cut the existing sump, and re-weld it to suit the reversed block? Perhaps a good idea to ...

Re: Leyland Marina E-Series Twin Cam
Janspeed in the UK made a twin carb conversion kit for the Maxi and Allegro, with a combined manifold, listed in their 1974 catalogue.
Interesting that they also did two modified cylinder heads for the Maxi, a Stage 1 for the road and a G2 (Group 2?) for competition.

Re: Leyland Marina E-Series Twin Cam
The cast iron TC manifolds were prone to cracking. I've got the original manifold off my TC, which had cracked and been poorly welded, and was considered beyond repair. The exhaust portion of the manifold appears to be identical to the single carb manifold, but I don't think you could cut it up like...

Re: 1.7 and 2.0 O series compatibility. Replacement or replacement parts
There look to be quite a few differences between those blocks. I wonder if the new one is a later Montego/Maestro "O2" block, is there an engine number stamped on the block?

Re: 1974 marina pickup "updates"
Can you post an engine bay photo? Assuming it's got the original 1275cc engine with the original manifold and SU carb, then replace the carb with a new or rebuilt SU, that will get it running properly. Just fitting an electronic distributor, such as a Powerspark or similar, will be the simplest igni...

Re: Marina inbound, with questions
If you need to make a sump, the Maestro 1600 had a derivative of the E4, so you might be able to cut-and-shut two to make an E6 sump. Might also give more options for backplates and bellhousings. This is worth a read https://www.aronline.co.uk/engines/engines-s-series/
