Re: Wheel cylinders - repair or replace
Yes best done if all the hydraulics are new.
does not hurt paint but you still do not wont it on your paint, mainly if you want to paint it again as you have to clean it very well to get the silicon off or the next coat will not be good. But at least if it leaks or you spill some there is no issues

Re: Wheel cylinders - repair or replace
When I restored my car and replaced all the hydraulics with new parts (Unipart) I refilled with Silicone brake fluid which does not corrode and has been in the system for 11 years, no leaks and no corrosion.

I have got one, if you were round the corner I would lend it but you can buy new rings if you break the one on there. Normally a sharp tap with a screwdriver evenly round on each lug shifts them.

Whenever a new seal is fitted you should cross hatch diagonally the smooth area all the way round with wet and dry to break up the smooth surface to allow the seal to bed in properly. or not put the seal in the exact same place.

Re: Marina inbound, with questions
What happened to all the parts that were on it? Has it still got all the interior trim etc? Well done for getting it up on wheels again even if its just to move it around. IT was complete when in the auction yard, as I guess this is the car that got crashed before it was sold at auction? I bet that ...

Re: Axle spring saddle dims
41 and 1/2 inch (1054mm) from outside to outside of saddle mount 37 and 3/8 inch (950mm) inside to inside of saddle mount. The above was measured with a very slight bow in the tape as it went along the centre back of the diff casing. Its all I could do without getting technical with extending the sa...
