Re: bad petrol/ diesel at texico

I think we were inadvertantly fed a red herring, thinking it was a fuel problem, when it ends up being electric. It's one of the prolems of remote diagnosis. A little surprised that a breakdown recovery did not diagnose the prolem but there must be relatively few cars on the road that have not got a...

I believe that http://sucarb.co.uk/ (Original Manufacturers)now make replacement jets and needles that are ethanol compatible. Something to do with their electro plating process?? Perhaps worth talking to them. You could also try http://www.su-carbs.co.uk/ are restorers and could have similar info.

Can't believe that it was Tesco's fault. Too may cars use their fuel and if there was a serious problem it would be well documented and Tesco would have reacted to protect their name and profit line. Strange that you should say that Steve as it is a known fact, around this area anyway, that Tesco h...

Much more likely to be coincidence, ie did you have the radio on, was it Terry Wogan?, than a new ba...

Re: Is this not called ringing!

Not sure about the detailed legality, but I would have thought the log book could not be sold on its own. Without a bodyshell or any other identifying parts of the original car, to use the logbook to potentially disguise the identity of another must be illegal?

Re: HELP E-Bay sale

In my experience (limited) when I have opened a dispute with Paypal/eBay, and have followed their guidelines, eveything has been resolved correctly.

I would sit tight fot a fe more days, and have faith in the system.

Pass. It's a warm fuzzy feeling when you do all your maintenance yourself.

It depends where they put you? AFAIK Ferry Meadows was both a Clay extraction area for bricks and Gravel extraction for roads.

Both were dumped by the Nene river over many years.

Re: Availability of spares

All the more reason to consider a Type 9 conversion. A pretty much bullet proof gearbox (in a Marina) no shortage of parts (nor will there be for many years) 1 : 0.825 overdrive ratio for effortless cruising. Teamed with a Sprint rear axle at 3.45, you can almost count the cylinders firing at 70 mph...

Re: rebuilding a 4 speed manual gearbox

Jubileenut will be along in a while, but meantime here is an overview. The basic gearbox is the same as a Triumph Dolomite and several other Triumphs so the good news is that many of the internal parts are readily available from Rimmer Brothers and other Triumph parts suppliers. The difficulty as I ...
