Re: What did you do to your Marina today?

If it helps I've got a complete 1.3 stainless exhaust. It's been on a car but is in good condition.

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?

Yes, as others have said if it has got to the stage where the steering has gone noticeably heavier pumping in through the grease nipple might not be enough to catch it before it partially seizes. I'd strongly recommend stripping them down and regreasing them ASAP to prevent failure. If it's got this...

Re: Fuel Tank sender units

I have kept all my broken ones. I have had NOS ones which have only lasted a year or two so it's no guarantee. All you'd need to do is calculate the number of windings and somebody with a coil winder (anybody who makes transformers basically) would be able to rewind them. Not sure on cost. The last ...

Re: Front and Rear Screen Rubbers

Quarterlight rubbers would be useful too if we're at it! Virtually always in need of replacement.

Re: A question or two for josh (radio related)

Yes, easy enough to add a 3.5mm jack lead onto it so you can connect it to the headphone output of any portable device. Signal levels are not a problem when done correctly. Driving another amplifier with it is possible but it would be more effort than what it's worth. Rather than a pre-out you would...

Re: Forums or Facebook?

I must admit I find car groups on Facebook a bit painful. There are so many different ones, I have lost count of how many Marina ones there are! Also forums seem to attract people who are much more genuinely enthusiastic. Forum's aren't immune from it, but people who don't know their trunnions from ...

It lived with a well known Club member for a long time up until a couple of weeks ago as part of a large collection

Re: Another Marina story from journalists without a clue

I've managed to outrun a few things on the twisty roads around here- Porsches, Lotuses etc. Not bad for an old family saloon. How they manage to handle but also ride so smoothly is beyond me.

Re: Another Marina story from journalists without a clue

All the 60s and 70s Renaults had them and they had a superior ride. And Peugeots for even longer. My 405 has torsion bars at the back. I don't know enough about suspension systems to say whether torsion bars react differently when going widthways across the car or whether they work better at the ba...

Re: Another Marina story from journalists without a clue

Carl spoke with him. His 'research' consisted of Wikipedia and ARonline which says it all. Hopefully when the book is done we can get some common myths ironed out!

Yours is probably mint compared to my one so I wouldn't worry too much! We can represent how Marinas looked in the 1980s!
