Re: new addition to my family
Paul, When you hover over a picture, two little labels come up underneath, if you click into IMG one it will turn blue. Right click on the IMG and click on 'copy' in the menu that appears. Then go back to this forum and right click and click on Paste and you get the picture address pasted into your ...

Re: new addition to my family
Paul,
Well done with the Estate. You can still post links by storing pictures on a free Flikr or similar account and then attaching links using the "Img" button (short for Image) and pasting in the Flikr location.

Re: 1800cc gearbox actuator arm
The two pegs on the arm ride in the slot on the release bearing carrier as per the picture above.
If the clutch slave is seated properly and the rod is in position, then everything will line up. Then "just" bleed the slave.

Re: Rally TC for sale
If it s the car I think it is, then it is a genuine Works Special Tuning car sent out as part of a team for a NZ rally, there is an article on an NZ website somewhere showing the rebuild. The provenance is everything, so you would want to see copies of all the paperwork before buying. The rear suspe...

Re: mk 3 1.3 HL
I know this one, a few years ago the lady owner contacted me asking whether I knew of an easy way to get matt black paint of the car. It turned out her 'mechanic' boyfriend painted it to impress her with the 'rat look' without asking her. She had bought the car in Pageant Blue because her deceased d...

Re: Part number help needed
All Marina/Ital front and rear windscreen rubbers have an insert for a trim strip. Mk1s used a stainless steel strip, later cars mostly used a chrome plastic filler strip and some cars used a black plastic filler strip. The profile for the plastic filler strip is the same as a real Mini, so readily ...

Clutch Slave O'haul kit
In one of the forum strings, someone asked me for a clutch slave overhaul kit, but I can't find the entry.
Can you PM me please if you still need one?
Thanks,

Re: preserving brake master cylinders
The two things you are protecting the master cylinders from are rust and rubber degradation. Rust, IMHO, I think leaving brake fluid in would be bad news as the fluid carries water in it so you are leaving a rust inducer inside the MC. Better to drain and rinse out with a solvent to get rid of any w...

Re: Gearbox.
I've never done a Marina gearbox - yet. But the weekend after next I am stripping an 1800 gearbox down to assess the condition (I know that it howls in third)and then buy the bits I need off AutoGear, thankfully I took it out some years ago, so no need to strip the car down. All Marina engines and g...

Re: 1800cc gearbox actuator arm
The arm has a rivited spring steel fork on the back of it, which fits over the ball pivot. The forks have been known to break, often due to heavy handling when being dismantled. However usually the fork will have just slipped off the ball pivot during the refitting process. Some people think that th...

Give Dave (black tulip) a ring and he'll let you know what shows he's attending this year. There's plenty about.
