Re: 1975 Hot Car used car feature and 1976 quick update appraisal

All it needs are the ‘Lakes’ side pipes. I remember 'Thrush' finned alloy sidepipes as the ultimate choice  Oh yeah, I remember those red painted axles lit up at night. I think they called them 'cruising lights'. To this day, it's much more my cup of tea than the slammed Corsa or VW Lupo with ...

Re: Should the coupe have looked like this?

Strangely acceptable. Although I feel that in order to be able to sell such a car, the company must by that time have had to update the suspension and make it coil sprung front and rear. Not impossible, because they re-engineered the Rover 75 V8 to rear wheel drive.

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?

 No damage to the car though? That's something at least if not. Some gits just go in to trash things.

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?

Three SUs! Jaguar-like! Well, not so much what did I do to my Marina today, but what I didn't do. This week I got further justification for wrapping mine up in mothballs for winter, and not using it as a daily driver. The 21 year old Ford Escort I chose to use as a daily driver in August, after fall...

Re: Should the coupe have looked like this?

Yes on close up enlargement I could see it was drawn on computer and not with a pen. Looks neat though. I've no idea whatsoever about programs for drawing or Photoshop alterations like your original Teal Blue Coupe photo. I've had a computer of some sort for a lot of years now, but have never gone i...

Re: Should the coupe have looked like this?

That's a good drawing isn't it? Yes I could see that working. The front also looks a little like the second generation Avenger (Chrysler/Talbot) which was a period Marins contemporary.

Re: Should the coupe have looked like this?

I made a mockup WIkipedia infobox which may either be inspirational or terrifying! Marina Infobox.png I had a go at your 2005 Rover 55. It reminds me of the sort of thing that happened with the 1960s Russian Volga, trying to update it in a closed market. When really as soon as they got the chance, ...

If somebody wants to race it or break it they're probably not bothered.

Re: Should the coupe have looked like this?

I've never seen a Chinese Ital before. What kind of suspension did those things have?

Re: Should the coupe have looked like this?

Wel, there's food for thought. IMHO, with budget retraints and an over long production life we could have an Ital shaped monstrosity along the lines of the Hindustan Ambassador, when that ended up with BMW MINI style headlights and body coloured plastic bumpers, or if done properly in a world where ...

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?

Where is the demand for the running gear coming from? Still from the Morris Minor upraters? Are people still using 1.8 engines for MGBs?

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?

Well, I think Michael Trigger-Carpenter has mentioned a figure of maybe £500, but Jay is fishing for a value and he lives 300 miles from the car he has inherited, and currently hasn't got any photos to show. He is just giving a written description. Apparently it runs, but has stood since about 1986 ...

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?

Well that backfired on me a bit. A guy called Jay wanting to sell his uncle's car he's inherited, posting on FB trying to get an idea of value and as per usual I write an essay, while others are answering his questions, and I'm thinking he's attached to it so try to word it as if he wants to see the...
