I'm not sure why we are seeing this, but I'm impressed by the lack of ferrous oxide!

Very interesting stuff, they must have been worried about the weight of the Red 6 engine, as this would brace the top of the inner wing, it would also cover the rust trap behind where the bonnet hinges are.

I believe the weight of 6 is less than B engine. A little bit more over hang from towers.
I have noticed that when the panel van is lifted with a crane through the front tow eyes there is flex between front guard & front door.
It was not evident when the same thing was performed on my V8.

Differential of 6 cylinder
Front LHS of engine altered to take bigger radiator.
Bracing from tower to firewall different.
Tunnel larger.

Larger tunnel to take the Borg Warner 3-speed manual box. iirc steering rack raised 30mm as a result, with different steering arms on stronger redesigned uprights.

Looks like everything was welded in by hand rather than spot welded. Interesting stuff

There is some welding done on the standard car plus the usual spot welds. This car has had some more added for strength. I think the steering arms were Kimberley or Tasman.
