Noo noo noo.....also Mk2 Special and HL and GT. Then the Mk3 went and got rid of the whole triangular bit of glass thing.
Yes, those too! The mk2s had a slightly different quarterlight to the mk1, not sure why though.

Oh...I don't have the benefit of experience. Mine has a little push button to unlock the latch before you turn it, were they omitted from the Mark 1?

No, they have like a filler piece in the corner.

MK1 have a chrome thumb lever with a push button to release the lever. they cut the corner off the glass on MK2s to stop the wind Whistling through as the MK1s are bad for that. Jubilees were the first UK cars to have them as they has USA spec bits etc.

It was only the Deluxe that had the vents deleted, and the two dial dash. The Super had the vents and a clock in the three dial dash. The Coupe only TC replaced the clock with a rev counter and added opening rear quarterlights.

Hadn't noticed the difference in the dash trim, will have to have a look later in my Bold as Brass TC Coupe.

Also note, the red saloon is a Series 2, badged as Leyland not Morris, and incorporating a raft of changes made for the Six. The front bumper is non standard, they didn't come with that extra bit in the middle, and it looks like it has an earlier Super grille. The eagle eyed might spot the fuel pump is driven off the cam, unlike the yellow coupe.

Hi
I acquired the red and white Marina. It is now in Brisbane. Goes well and is in great condition with zero rust.
It has a TC grill but only 1 carb. It’s a 3 speed auto and the only issue is that it rolls in park. Suspect it may be a linkage issue as highlighted elsewhere in this forum. Also wipers don’t return to park (also covered by this forum).
Happy to join the Marina Mob and have already got some great help. I also have a Coupe which is off the road but complete which Ingot for $700 oz dollars. Cheers BobbyV

Hi, a couple of photos.

Note TC grill (but single carb) and odd front bumper. Will send dash photos (does have a rev counter)

Cheers BoobyV

Hi Bobby,

Looks like you got a good deal. :D

I was given this info (from "BigCarl" iirc) for the Aussie "Leyland" Marina (after it was re-engineered for the E6 engine)
025 E2S4A17/8236
025 = Marina
E (odd, should be A for Manual or B for Auto)
4S = 4 Door Saloon (2S for Coupe)
2 = Super (1 for Deluxe)
A = 3 Speed Floor Shift Auto (L for 3 Speed Floor Shift Manual & M for 4 Speed Floor Shift Manual)
17 = E4 1.746 litre (14 for E4 1.485 litre & 26 for E6 2.623 litre)
8236 = serial chassis number

Based on that, your car should have the later vertical bar grille, and originally had a clock :-

The TC was only ever sold as a Coupe in Oz, and was dropped when the Six was released. The good news is the fours got all the chassis and brake upgrades from the six, so your car probably handles and stops better than the TC did. :thumbup:

Is that black sill line (along the bottom of the doors) standard trim for this Australian model, or is it 'customised'? And do I see a solid black radiator expansion tank that you can't see the coolant level through?

The black paint was standard. Leyland Marina Red Six brochure.

I have seen black expansion tanks before, although mine is semi-transparent white.

Thanks Bryan,
that puts everything back into focus, much appreciated.
By the way, the Coupe I have (not running) is a '72 Morris Marina (before they changed to Leyland?) but I have no idea the engine size. Plate attached.
I should mention that my interest in Marinas stems from my father having one when I was growing up in Invercargill. He followed that with a Austin Allegro! I am still trying to find one of those.
Cheers BV
