Best Insurance Deals

Post by Muskydo » Wed Jul 11, 2007 6:57 pm

As I now find myself with 2 Ital pickups this year, can anyone recomend an insurance company that will take on both cars on the same policy for a reasonable rate.I won't have much in the way of bonus as all of my no claims bonus is used on my Silver Dream Machine ( Imported 3.5 litre 24valve 280BHP Mitzy Pajero)and that costs big bucks to insure,so any suggestions welcome.

Yeah I can confirm that ive had 4 motors on my Footman policy, now down to 3 :( , I also have 5 named drivers on the policy. My policy is fully comp as I dont insure any of my vehicles for less and the premium is only £98 bangers per year. You may get it cheaper if you only have one motor.

Hope this clears things up

Yeah I use footman james as well the same cost £98 and that has both my coupe and saloon on it plus it's unlimited mileage and free breakdown insurance not that a marina ever breaks down !!!

Footman James is great. I have been with them for 7 years now and never once had a problem with them so I don’t even shop around for quotes. Their premium is fair and good value in my opinion

Thanks Guys,
pretty decisive there Footman James is top of the list,I'll get my renewal by the end of the month so I'll give them a ring before hand, but they certainly sound far better than what I've got now which is Highway for £136:00.It'll be much better to get both Pickups on the same policy with just one premium.

Hiya,

We are with Footman James for Johns Midget and they were really cheap considering our ages. Il be using them for the Marina as their quote was more reasonable than most other places I tried. (Also their free breakdown cover is a lifesaver!)

I use Lancaster Insurance but only because Footman James don't like Modified cars. Got the Capri and SLK insured for under £500 but thats limited miles and age related (mine not the cars!)

Well they didn't like mine! I gave up with them when they said "That was not how it came out of the factory was it" Even tho there was a model listed! It was sometime ago when I fitted a factory 2ltr engine into a 1700 Ital estate. So I gave up with them and went else where.

Should be all right for me though, the only mechanical mods I have planned involve trying to get them to stop better, this will also involve going to 14" wheels as well so I'll make sure they are aware of that also.

Problem for me anyway, they are on the interweb and this is the first page for a quote:-

The vehicle:
• Is over 15yrs of age ( Quotes available for younger vehicles please ring the number above for a quotation ) .
• Has not been modified from the manufacturer’s standard specification.
• Is not a grey or parallel import including US imports.
• Is not valued at more than £50,000.
• Is not a Van, pickup, motor home or other commercial vehicle.
• Must be garaged at night.
• Your maximum annual mileage will not exceed 6000 mpa ( please ring us for higher options that may be available )

Mine are pickups so I've fallen at the first hurdle.Any other suggestions :?:

Give them a call. It should be classed as a classic commercial I would have thought.. I know people that have used lynbrook insurance for Marina's in the past

Try telephoning - much more receptive. One of my local MMOC members insures his van through them so commercial vehicles OK - what they are worried about is "white van man" rage - hence no commercials.
