It's been a difficult week, marina wise. Wednesday was a lovely warm summers day, so, having the day off work allowed me to have a drive west, to take in the country lanes and maybe do some painting.
All this was brought abruptly to an end , when a BMW decided to shunt the rear of my van, totaling both doors.
Since then has been the battle with reluctant BMW drivers insurance and the search for a pair of replacement doors.
It's going to be make or break (literally) next week, when the insurance engineer decides if it's, er, make or break. So, if anyone can help save my daily drive, and my road going joy, please let me know if there's s pair of van doors out there? Please!

Oh well, couldn't make the nats this year but there was a small classic gathering down the road from us so we went to that.
TDT got a lot of attention there today.. especially since my girlfriend stuck those flowers on her
Nice touch I think.. (I have to say that or I'll get an ear bashing!)

Sorted out the non self parking wipers on the Mumford. Checked all the wiring, that was okay. Then turned my attention to the motor, which looked shiney and newish, but my goodness it wasn't. Solid grease and much internal corrosion. I don't know how it was working in the first place. Tracked the fault to the self park switch and have ordered a new one. Put an old spare on for now which works fine, but doesn't look nice.
I think it must have been refurbished with a paint brush, much rhe same as the starter motor recently replaced.

Am I perceiving correctly that you bought the eBay SLX 1300?

The Ital in the post above is now being advertised on ebay as breaking.

I've been unable to find it, but it seems a shame if true. There won't be any of these needing spares before long.

It looked a decent enough car, unless it was rotten underneath. Still a shame.

A few weeks ago I was reading about a Maestro with a hundred and something miles on it. Bought for about £2.5k at auction, put on eBay some months later for £10k 'or will break'. Apparently worth more as parts, even though the car had kept well. For me at this minute this seems to be what the classic car world is mostly about. What people can make out of it.

The Meastro never got broken, think was just a threat to get someone to pay his excessive mark up. Its still listed on ebay at the moment. I very nearly offered him £3.5 to 4 K when he was threatening to break it. That would still have given him a decent profit.
