Another one made its way over the Irish Sea.

Spotted it from a distance coming into Kilbroney Show at the weekend and got a bit excited. Not all as it seemed on closer inspection though. 1.8 SDL auto with bits of TC trim added. Car nicely solid and original looking otherwise though, with a definite 'patina'!

Was chatting to owner for a good while and he has no intention of tarting it up any either, although planning to change over to manual. Car came over from London fairly recently I think, disabled driver badge still in it, and 34K on the clock looking to be correct. The TC bits came off a Coupe the rest of which has dissolved into the ground. Nice car and good to see another one on the road here.

Hadn't noticed that the TC coupe and saloon had different badge locations. Was the badge location common to all Coupes? Did TC saloons ever get the Coupe's MORRIS backflash?

As far as I know those pictures above is what we had in the UK Coupes had the Morris in the back flash and saloons didn't.
I spy my motor in the distance of the second picture. If we can ask Kevin to bring his Jubilee to Peterborough then we could have 3 Jubilees out of the 5 on the road in one spot ;-)

Makes sense I guess as the coupe has the "coupe" badge with no room for the Morris badge. My Deluxe coupe years back if I remember had a "Morris" badge on the light panel but no trim flash. I have one of those panels but without the Morris wording.
The mind boggles

In Australia, Coupes had the Marina badge on the left, Coupe badge on the right (same as UK), but with a trim level badge (Deluxe, Super, TC) beside it (where the 1.3 or 1.8 badge was on the UK cars). Only the TC had the backflash, the other models had the small MORRIS badge in the centre of the light panel below the boot.

Saloons had the Morris badge on the left, Marina badge on the right, with a Deluxe or Super badge where the 1.3 or 1.8 badge was on the UK cars.

Just an update with another one that's made it's way across the Irish Sea recently.

Image

1977 Sun-tor with TC wheels, very distinctive so remembered it from being on eBay few months back, bidding went to £2750 but reserve not met, now at a dealer in Dublin for €5250 = £4750, still on UK plate though, NTC 76R. Interesting thing is when it was on eBay in June it was in Crawley, and advertised as showing 33K miles, now in Dublin showing 42K miles. Has someone really done 9000 miles in this since June? If so that's quite a holiday they've had! Still, I suppose that's probably about as far as you do have to drive to find a decent bit of sun..

I cheated and went for both.
Saloons should really have a plain back flash.
But what the heck!

Keeping the thread up to date. Probably the oldest Marina in Ireland built pre-launch April '71.

So saw both of these cars for the first time at Kilbroney Show this weekend.

Very clean '75 1.3 SDL. Nice original local NI reg. car (very few of these left I think) wearing some TC trim.

And another very nice genuine TC that's found its way over here.

Like the damask tc saloon. There was one up for sale a while ago but can’t remeber if this is the one?
Not many late 1.5mk TCs left and looks to be in nice condition.

Nice, especially the Damask TC. Both missing their rear light bezels though!

Yes, the two cars were together in convoy - the Marinas missing bezels club! Both very nice cars though.

And another update, for sale on Gumtree, asking £450. Doesn't bode well for a car though when it's advertised as a suitable engine / disc brake donor for a certain other model of Morris...
