Another 1971 Car Found!!!!!!
Evening all,
So today I got a phone call from my friend's mum who spoke to someone about my car and he said he had some parts I could buy for a few quid plus a whole car he might be selling (the car was used by his grandma to get to and from the shops). As soon as I finished the call I went straight there and he had a grill for a mk2 and coupe boot lid (paid a £5 for them). I then said about the car and he took me to a huge garage thing and there it was.
I looks quite rough but the door bottoms, a posts and front panel where the wipers are, are solid. It will need a fair amount of welding, 2 new front wings, the roof popping out, etc but I think it's saveable as it is 99% complete with a spare set of keys and paperwork. I've made an offer and as long as his brother says yes then it should be mine.
Pictures to follow,
Alex

Its an SDL - The Deluxe said 'Deluxe' on the wing, this says 'Super' + this has reverse lamp pods.MarinaCoupe wrote:1.3 DL with no wing or door mirrors. Chassis number in the first 40000 (started at 101). About now Josh will be wetting himself.

Re: Another 1971 Car Found!!!!!!
Still wetting myself nonetheless Nice find, and a Suffolk reg plate! Very jealous! This would have been one of the last cars with the early wipers- they had changed by 42k.

Re: Another 1971 Car Found!!!!!!
Hi all,
Thanks for all the comments.
Bit of an update for today, got all the drums unseized (one screw on one drum nearly didn't come out but I just managed to tap it round with a punch), popped out half the roof dent, put back on the bonnet, got air in the tyres, pushed it back and got ivy out of the grill and unseized the clutch and brake pedals. The guy said his brother is coming down Tuesday so hopefully it'll be mine by then, as he said they'll probably sell it; fingers crossed . Got somewhere, hopefully, to put it too. I had a good look at the bodywork today and it is quite rotten in loads of places so I don't know if I'll be able to do it but I'm going to give it my best shot; if anyone has any panels they could sell me that'd be great . I'm going back tomorrow to look in his yard for Marina parts and then look at the engine and see if I can get it going. Progress update will follow.
Alex
