A '74 would have vinyl roof, reversing lights and reclining seats as standard.

Shame you're not keen on this one Josh, after all there is a glaring TC shaped gap in your '71 stable!

If I had a TC it would be a saloon 8-) Still need a Damask car so a J reg TC in Damask would do nicely, don't know of any J plate TC saloons or any surviving Damask 71s though!

If I had a coupe it wouldn't be this one, I have enough welding to do as it is...

Gap is definitely reserved for PTH, always space for more Limeflower 8-)

Well, today was auction day - anyone know what it went for? I've looked on the H&H Auctions site, but they've yet to post the results.

Hi all. Only just spotted this thread. I was the one that bought the car at H & H. It's been an interesting restoration so far. It was clear that some previous work had been done to a generally good standard but the inner wings were shot and bodged with lots of underseal. I am currently cutting out all the rust and welding in new steel before replacing all the front end with original NOS panels. I was interested in the comment about bent shell and trimmed down wing. I will have another look at the old ones to see if I can spot what was done. The bonnet wings and doors etc seemed to line up ok when trial fitted but I will take a careful check before I weld anything up.
I didn't realise the screws on sill strips were non original. If you still have a good set with the clips it would be good to put that right. Please let me know so I can agree a price. I will post some pics of the ongoing "weldathon".
Tony

Nice one  Welcome to the forum  I have a pair of TC sill trims in good shape though they are from a saloon, I think they are the same as the coupe but I'd ask someone who knows for sure first.
Look forward to seeing the progress!

Harry Hayes completely 'restored' the car back in the early 90s. He's still about in the Marina world. The story goes he discovered after the shell had been painted whilst he was fitting the doors that one door wouldn't fit, and that one side had been pushed back. I believe he cut a strip off one of the wings, or one of the doors, as obviously the front end was all out of alignment.

Here's a couple of pics from the archive of 'last time round'!

I remember buying that issue of PC. Was it really twenty years ago?! I remember the first issue of PC I ever bought, it had art work of a Daimler Dart on the front cover.

Thanks for the pictures and information, fascinating. I will let you know if I spot anything untoward. The main chassis rails seem straight but I will have a more thorough look the next time I am in the garage. Is that Harry at work, he obviously likes working in organised chaos!
