Right, my 76 1.3 has an awful habit of rattling loose the nut that holds the cable onto the starter motor... Normally making itself present with the ominous tick of the solenoid without the starter engaging. The nut is normally re tightened and off we go again for a good 3 weeks before it does it again
However, this time I have not been so fortunate. The nut has rattled itself loose and then completely off and likely sits somewhere on the road between Bournemouth and Bristol. The car still is used, but the starter cable is held in place with a tactically placed cable tie.
Would anyone know the thread of my missing nut? I'm guessing BA or UNF...
TIA

Should be the same as MGB - 1/4" BSF 26 tpi, according to here.
There should be a lock washer under the nut.

Sounds like you need a single coil lock washer on there as well
