1.3 Marina pre-engaged starter

Post by Dorsetdave » Thu Aug 24, 2017 11:40 pm

I have a Morris Minor fitted with a late 1300 Marina engine and Borg Warner 65 auto box.
It was poorly installed and it is now being sorted. The snag now is that the pre-engaged starter is fouling a suspension bolt. My local garage has suggested that modern starters are thinner than the original and that this could could resolve my problem.

Can anyone suggest a thin replacement?

Thanks for looking.

Dave

Not something that you need to do with a Marina. I'd suggest a Minor or MG Midget website as they may have come across the problem.

Thanks for the thought. Someone suggested using a 1.8 Marina starter and relocating the holes.

Your garage maybe onto something. Replaced the original starter on an older car with a what turned out to be slightly smaller new pattern part. Does the job.
