Barn find

Post by Jon » Sat Aug 26, 2017 2:58 pm

Hi, I found a 1972 1.3 coupe in a collapsed garage. The house is being sold through probate and I'm sure the family would welcome it being removed! If anyone is interested then I can pass on details.

Hi Jon,
I contacted you on Facebook a few days ago. As I said I would definitely give this a good home. If you can find out some details please that would be fantastic!

Josh

Sadly not. The original poster got me the address. House has now sold, I have sent a letter but not heard anything back. It was registered April 71 and the first batches of cars built were Bedouin 1.3 DL coupes like this so it is probably older than the earliest confirmed survivor by some way.

That's frustrating Josh. Amazing what unknown cars keep turning up though isn't it?

Yes they're still out there! Sadly not much more I can do really. Horrible thinking what was probably one of the first Marinas built could be on it's way to the scrappy as we speak!

Yep the owners gave me a call today. Garage has collapsed onto it so not holding out much hope... if it's really bad and really early I will see if I can donate it to Gaydon. Obviously would like to restore it but with my day job museum/conservation hat on it will no longer be one of the very first built if restored. Assuming it is that early of course...!
