This is interesting. BL (Unipart) manufactured damper shock absorber refurb kit. Are these the parts that could be remanufactured to do this ourselves?

This is a rebuild kit for the late Ital telescopic version with the floating top arm. It’s no good for the lever arm damper version.
If you need your lever arms dampers rebuilt, this company will do them. The club used them on the Classic Car Loan Project. Vintage and Classic Engineering https://www.vandcengineering.co.uk/

Thanks- that’s even more interesting in that BL did kits for telescopic ones.

It’s mainly because the Torrington needle bearings used were pinched from the trailing arms of the Classic Mini, and don’t last very long unless greased regularly. Thankfully the bearings can be removed and replaced relatively easily. The bearings are available from any good bearing supplier without the Unipart kit, part number Torrington B1316. These are on eBay at about £11.00 a piece.

The arm can wear also. There's a thread somewhere on here detailing the rebuild.
I have slight wear on my own set but with new bearings and regular greasing, they work extremely well and corners like a modern car.
It seems that the LH steering rack bush is the big Marina wear point and that's the first point of call for any front steering/suspension mods.
