Sorry JBS,you are correct i forgot that no letter is used if it look like a number,I and O and Z i think dont get used here,so EVIL cant be right unless its from Ireland? And the BIG plates are B16 interesting though.

No need to be sorry Alan! :) It's just that British car number plates bring out my inner geek! :D

BTW, if you want to waste £1 with your mobile phone try inputing any legal British plate to 86007 - the cars details should come up & how much it's worth etc.

As I mentioned before, you can have AEV 1L, BEV 1L etc, but not I, O,Q, Z before the EV 1l & it would have depended how quickly the area "EV" got through their numbers, but the DVLA do issue plates that the system never got round to if they spell names etc, & make a pretty penny out of it.

I'm not only a Marina fan, but I'm also a big fan of Mitsubishi "Colt" Sigma's made between 1976 & 1981 & one plate you could transfer to a Sigma would be 51 GMA, but not S1 GMA as it's too new - DVLA rules state that only OLD marks can go on newer vehicles, but I'm sure you all know that. :)

Thanks for the number JBS,i dont have a private plate Russ (the original northern boy does) so popped his number in and the quote came back in a few ticks very good system, and cheaper than the companies that charge a fiver a go to price you up.i used to work on a Colt Sigma quite few years ago now,my only memories were it was silver, and every part was sky high to buy,and took a fortnight to arrive, an oil pump was about £160 =vat the dealership was Central Motors (Scotland Street) Sheffield real nice looking car,the same bloke than bought a Starion really fast then, not seen one in years, loads of stuff in it.

and Ray my latest guess is it this? MACLEAN

a bargain at £29,518 .51

In case you are all wondering what Alan is on about, here are a Sapporo & a Sigma : ( you all know what a Starion looks like :D )

The Sigma was also badged as Galant outside the UK - the badge above the back number plate still said Galant, but UK spec models had tacky looking stuck on "Colt Sigma" badges on both rear wings. In Australia, the Sigma was known as a Chrysler Sigma.

The Sapporo was only availible in the UK with a 1995 CC engine & was also known as Chysler Scorpion in Australia & New Zealand.

Yeah that's the one,and now you mention it the Sapporo another nice looking car, that have all gone that metallic brown must have been a very popular colour for them you always saw them in that I heard a story that a local dealership altered their franchise to another make because Mitsubishi were so reliable, but didnt do anything in the UK till the Shogun arrived.

Ray come on and just tell us the number,Russ keeps saying ive got to ask you.

Would have been better if the plate was CAM 831L Or CAM 83L! I would not of put that price tag on that plate but someone was willing to pay that so what do I know.

I would have put two screws in the 8 and made CAMEL if they were still on the car. I notice PEN 1S was posted up, that plate belongs to or at least used to belong to motorcycle racer now commentator Steve Parrish, he had it on a Mercedes 190 Cosworth in the mid ninetys if I remember rightly
