Decided to go to Newark autojumble today. Got as far as clumber park and the A1 was closed. Started on the diversion but it was hellish slow so turned round and went home . Just as I spun my van round a Tara green mk3 was in the queue. Looked tidy and I think it was a T reg but not 100%. Anyone here?

What did I do?

I found out the first cold snap of winter caused all the power to flee from the Marinas battery. :frown:

So I put it on the charger all day.

And it started great when I got home from work, fingers crossed it works tomorrow.

So THAT is what I did to my Marina today. :mr green:

Today I took it to its first show at the Riverside Steam Fair Nr Southport. Lots of love for it! And on the anniversary day of the Marinas launch in 1971 .I used around £20 of super unleaded for the 80 mile round trip and it performed well. Loosening up nicely and the brakes improving each time I use it! On display were many things including Fred Dibnah's 2 steam engines and his Landy.
Amazingly a guy , Mike who recognised the car immediately, approached me and sid how he had worked for the supplying dealership where the car originally came from. He also knew of its past whereabouts and of the many attempts for it to be bought, unsuccessfully, from the place that I purchased it from eventually. He has even given me the name of the sales manager who sold the car back in 1972 . He's still in business selling cars at Wigan. A quick call methinks! Said Chap is a Cortina freak and owns 3 of the marques, 2 x GTs and a Ghia . Also, I was told of two previously unknown Marina pickups laid up in barns around the local area. . . NOT for sale apparently! Image

Today I got a pass on an mot for the coupe, first time. Changed the prop shaft beforehand as this was an advisory last year on the centre bearing. Strange they didn't note "play in the steering rack" as they did last year.

Nearly a frost morning. Noticed my auto was reluctant to change into top.
Checked the fluid.
Noticeably black on a clean rag.
Got it warm and dumped all the fluid.
Refilled with 3.6 litres new Dexron III.
Got it warm and dumped the fluid again.
Removed the pan, replaced the strainer.
Cleaned the pan and fitted a new gasket.
Refilled with another 3.6 litres Dexron III.
Went back to work - but the auto behaviour seems unchanged.
Bother.
Will have to read the BW65 manual about making adjustments.

So thats nice...

Changed the oil and oil filter on the Pickup today, not been done for nearly three years, although only 3,000 miles in total.

Fitted new discs, pads and recon calipers, adjusted rear brakes and fitted electronic ignition on the estate today. The best way to spend a bank holiday, happy days. :-D :-D

For the first time in months there's a Marina in work's car park again 8-)

I did say I would stop driving Mud at the end of last year, but since she's temporarily out of barn storage while we shuffle lorries about, still in ticket and insured (and free tax of course!) I couldn't resist :mr green:

What di I do to my Marina?

Made it tow a trailer with 1/2 ton of rubbish to the tip.

(I knew it was good for it as I'd made it tow a tandem wheel car-trailer with my '37 Ford coupe on board - up hill to my garage)

Said goodbye to VYL yesterday which went off to it's new home in Norwich, then last night I got pulled over by the Police in CVF! Fortunately it was just because I had a tail light out, the officer was pleased to see a Marina out and about!
