Bop 92k - back on the road
About the start of May I visited the very well know Josh , serial marina horder! In the corner sat a very sad look 71 super , having been badly modified even for the time with side exit exhausts and a jacked up rear end I was convinced to buy it .
Once home , the realisation of what I had taken on hit me
I made a quick start and striped all the insides out to check for rust , being in a 'barn' since 1983 it had faired well , no major issues
Then I de jacked it and removed all the horrible stripes down the sides and rubbish art on the Windows
I replaced all the brakes , hoses , shoes , cylinders ,flexies both masters and slaves all engine hoses , rad ect ect!
I struggled to find an exhaust so travelled to Cambridge to pick one up being told it was for a marina ,turns out it wasn't !so 30 quid fuel down and 20 quid for the exhaust, no refund given no names mentioned!thankfully Martin came up trumps and had a full system
Welded up all the random holes ,fitted some door mirrors
Re fitted all the interior , sadly the wrong colour seats but that will have to do for now
Then a bit of the good old stone chip along the sills
New tyres fitted
Then mot!
She passed , then off to visit Josh
I love this little car !few bits to finish and get but she's on the road first time since 1983.
Massive thanks to Josh and Martin for parts and help my missus for giving me time despite having a New born days before I got the marina and Chris for sorting the paperwork quickly !another marina saved

Good job, it shows that you are not on your own with a car off the road. Add up the number of club members that helped out and the real value of the club shines through.

What a great story. The custom car scene had some strange ideas!
If you decide to sell those seats on once you've found some blue ones please let me know.

A round of applause from the opposite side of the planet.
I got attached to Marinas originally because they were the least favoured cars locally - for no apparent reason - but I saved many and am always impressed when anyone else on the planet does the same.
That is why I frequent this forum.
Like-minded souls here.
Plus - a great resource of knowledge and spares info.
Well done my friend - you have done a very good thing indeed.
Regards.

Great to see a car come back onto the road after so long! Feel free to email a selection of photos to me along with a few words for the magazine :-)

Nicely played!
Would be nice to have some more pictures?

I love Marinas, but I can't have one. Instead, I'm the proud owner of "Lily", a Jaguar XJS from Coventry Rainforest, England.
