Is the early Marina prop shaft similar to the Ital i.e. has a center mounting or is it just one piece thanks

Yep. I think only van and pickup are different but only in length. Centre bearing / two piece prop on all Marina and Ital’s.

David is correct, only 10cwt/575 Commercials (Vans & Pickups) have a slightly shorter propshaft. All Saloons, Estates, Coupes and 7cwt/440 Commercials share the same two part propshaft and centre bearing - all models, all years.

Is it shorter due to the longer nose diff?

Yes exactly, the 10cwt/575 commercials uses different heavy duty back axle, the so called banjo axle. As you surmised the diff ff nose is longer than the saloon etc. axle.
