The Diff on all UK Pickups/Utes is 4.55:1. I’ll need to look up revs @ 100kph.

Finally got the chance to check my reference books. In top gear a standard Pickup will turn 23.17 kph for every 1,000 rpm.. The ratio is 4.55:1. If you were to change that to a 4.11:1 diff then you will get 25.6 kph for every 1000 revs.

Your Pickup has the so call BMC 'banjo' axle, as well as the two ratios above there is also an option of a 3.89:1 ratio. 3.89:1 is probably about the most that a 1.3 engine will pull comfortably. The most likely place that you will find a banjo axle or differential in Aus is at an MGB or MGA parts supplier.

Thanks Chris.
Or just fit an 1850 Dolomite overdrive gearbox.
I have 1 .
Just hunting up panels to fix repairs that had been done previously.
Front guards are rough, might be quicker to replace them.
If I do remove guards I get a good look at everything so no hidden rust.
Thanks again for the info.

The overdrive has around a 25% gearing the exact gearing is shown in the serial number on the O/D unit. So in O/D top you will get about 32 kph per 1,000 revs.

Your bumper looks slightly different to mine. Like there's a protrusion in the middle section. But I see you've got wooden trim on the top of the bin too

Yes that is right Chris.I think that will suit.Australia is a big place & I intend to use this vehicle so a few less revs on the open road the better.
The ute came with those bumpers & timber from NZ
I think the timber is standard, not sure about the front bumper.

First registered in 1979, so a Mk2 bumper would be correct?

In the UK a 1979 Pickup would have looked like this.

Might have taken a couple of years to use up the old Mk2 ckd kits before we changed to the Mk3. Didn't use up all the Minor ckd kits until 1975. :o
