No, but I did have a Mini once. An L reg mk3 in Limeflower. I drove it home from a scrap yard I worked at years back but I never got around to restoring it and sold it for £90 ::(:

I think I just like BL cars in whole. I've had a few. Mini Metro, Austin Mini, Austin 1100, Triumph Toledo, Triumph 2000 and 7 Morris Marinas to date!

Has she set you deadline? You'll have to get one done then, otherwise you'll be the dead one
We've both agreed that we should have two (REW and PDA) for next year's Nationals . So a deadline of 9 months has been set, which will soon go round  :rolls:

I don't know about that, I can't let her have the servo and both anti roll bars as well . Although admittedly the brakes on REW are pretty good, to the point where they are better than the van's I think, even after a service which is concerning :shifty:. As I haven't fixed the gearstick on PDA since I got it, I think she'd like the one she can put into gear

I know right, I have to reclaim it when I want to change gear . It's worse in second as you can rotate the whole gearstick 360 degrees continually, which makes for an interesting talking point when driving . It's awkward when driving though and you go into first or from first to second and it's like you want to touch their leg or something

Went for a little drive in the HL in the sunshine. On putting it away, I noticed something on the spill pad in the garage besides the patch of pink ATF (yep the ATF patch on the fresh spill pad is still growing but it's that casting on the side of the transmission that's leaking, not my new cork sump gasket, so I'll live with it). A pool of water was sat on the spill pad. Problem :problem: Felt a bit sticky but extremely clean looking stuff. Can't be coolant thinks I, as the stuff that comes out of the Marina is always rust coloured with sediment in it. Screen wash? Currently the bottle is filled with plain water, but I checked all around anyway. No signs of leaks. Heater hose then? Heater matrix? Still that should leak rusty coolant but I searched all around with an inspection lamp, and looked under the carpets inside for signs of leakage in there. Nothing. Meanwhile the warm Marina dripped not a thing. Hmm. Well, I'll have to give up for now but I'll have to keep this under observation, I thought. Not good. Something else wrong. Then I had the epiphany  A fortnight ago I parked the '98 Escort in the garage while I was out in the Marina and that does seem to have a very slightly dropping coolant level in the expansion tank, even though I can find no source of the leak and have never seen it drip, nor are there any puddles under the car where it stands outside. And it does have extremely clean and pure looking antifreeze in the system.... So there we have it, Dr Watson. Marina 1, Escort nil.

Nah. Definitely water. Coolant in fact, with ethylene glycol. I've checked under the Marina since and apart from where the transmission insists on still leaking from, nothing else has dropped. The coolant must have dropped from the one time I put the Escort in the garage for a few hours just to see how it fitted while I was out in the Marina, but the coolant sat on the spill pad in a little puddle, while the ATF from the Marina soaks in. Still can't see where it's coming from on the Escort but that's for another forum!

Does the Escort have air con? (Importing Japanese used cars to NZ had raised expectations so virtually all our new cars had air con and power windows by the end of the millenium). The air con condenser leaves a puddle of water under the car after use.

Nope it doesn't have a/c. All the better for it as far as I'm concerned. It's definitely ethylene glycol. I...er...tasted it. To be sure. Not recommended. But it distinguished it from screen wash fluid!
