Since getting the Ital estate back on the road, it's had an erratic temperature gauge; working some days, showing cool or hot the next or just fluctuating wildly. It's been driving me nuts.
Anyway, last Friday the old bus refused flatly to start - the indicators had been very slow the previous day so I thought it may be the battery, so after work I bunged a good one on and tried it - fine! But, on checking the charging, all was OK at 14.49V until I turned on a load (headlights, rear window, fan and wiper) when it suddenly dropped to 11.75V and then kept dropping - Aha! Dud alternator! Lucas came up with a 'new' one for a not bad price, this was duly fitted and tested 14.49V in all conditions. And its cured the erratic temp gauge!

The classic car movement needs Jeremy Clarkson like Jenson Button needs a towhitch and a Sprite Musketeer....
