Hi.

I have a B series engine with number 18V849F-H466. I cannot find any reference on the web to this number. The date clock on the block has the characters B 4 2. It has twin SU carbs with a tag number AUD445F. According to an SU catalogue this carb was fitted to a Marina TC.

Could the engine be from a TC?

Any information on the engine and its spesification would be very welcome.

Yup it's a Marina Mk2 1800 B series.

The key is the 849 code, the next letter F denotes twin carbs, which also means that it had the standard MGB camshaft.

The engine has a distributor Lucas 24D 41288. Would that likely have been original to the engine as well?

Sorry, don't know about dizzies.

Early distributors were 25D4 later units 45D4 for more information see www.distributordoctor.com/ What Martin does not know about Lucas distributors is not worth knowing.

The 855F differs from the 849F as it should have the anti-run on valve.

According to this site, 41288 should be a 25D4 from an MGB :-

Thanks. It looks like the whole set up is from a Marina TC. Its currently residing in a '79 MGB, all wrong I know but at least now I know where to look for tuning data.
It doesn't look like I can get a Haynes manual for the Marina from them any more. I don't suppose that one of you could put up a photocopy of the relevant engine tuning data, timing, idle speed etc?
