The block will have the blanking plate fitted in the same location as the Marina fuel pump, you should see two bolt heads.

One of the pics from the online advert:

Looks to me like there’s no blanking plate or boss at all from that view. Curious.

Re: Wrong engine, right?
Very curious, I stand corrected, maybe it was only the 18Vxxxxxxx engines that had it.
Any who, looks like you’ll need an electric fuel pump. I used a NZ made FuelFlo 015 on my TC powered Coupe.

I’ll keep an eye on the auction. Fuel pump can be sorted out easily with the fuelflo. I would still be a little worried that the block might be hiding some other surprise differences though that only become apparent when bolting on the ancillaries.
It would be interesting to find out more about the variance between the engines, why, when etc.

I have a old MGA block in the shed strangely it has the fuel pump mounting cast into it and the studs but has never been drilled to take a mechanical fuel pump

What year do you reckon your block is? I have done a bit of trawling and can find pictures of different MG blocks, some with no mounting, some with mounting but not drilled and some with blanking plate. I can’t nail down any specific information like a year it changed or anything like that.
The great fuel pump mounting mystery!
