2025 Forum Funding Appeal – Help Keep FMM Alive

Post by ClaytonSpeed » Mon Apr 21, 2025 11:06 am

Hi everyone,

It’s that time of year again when I ask for your support to help keep this forum running.

While traffic has dropped compared to a few years ago, the forum is still actively used and remains an important resource for Marina and Ital owners.
Unlike Facebook, the forum offers properly searchable information, detailed technical advice, project documentation, and a real archive of knowledge that doesn't disappear into the void of social media posts.

I'm not planning to shut it down or move into full archive mode — people still use it, and it still serves a valuable purpose.
However, keeping the site online isn't free. Last year, although I received some fantastic support, I still had to personally subsidise a significant shortfall. Realistically, this isn’t something I can continue to do indefinitely without your help.

As ever, the forum is entirely funded by your contributions.
If you'd like to help keep it running, you can make a donation via PayPal or Buy Me a Coffee. You can also support by purchasing a T-shirt or mug from my website:

Every donation — no matter how small — helps to share the load and ensure this brilliant archive and community stays alive for the future.

Thank you for your continued support.

Hi Ben and all, done. Keep up the good work. I don’t visit as often as I did but always good to catch up and see what everyone’s up to. As much as I use Facebook I’m not a fan.

Hi everyone,

A huge thank you for the support so far!

As of today, we've had £123.97 in donations, which is fantastic — and enough to cover the server and domain name costs for the next 12 months.
This ensures FastMarinaMagazine stays online and available for another year at least.

The forum runs on phpBB, so there are no licence fees to worry about — just the core running costs.
However, storage for backups can become an issue as the forum grows, especially with all the projects and photos uploaded over the years.
Any extra donations beyond the basic server cost will go towards keeping secure backups of the forum data, so we can protect the archive we've built.

I'm incredibly grateful for the continued support. Even if you just visit occasionally, your contributions — whether by posting, donating, or simply being part of the community — are what keep FMM alive.

Thank you again for helping to keep this brilliant resource available for Marina and Ital enthusiasts worldwide!

Ben

Donated. Having run a similar forum elsewhere I know how important it is to have help and support. This place is an invaluable source of information and I’d be happy to help in any way possible to keep it going.

Glad you can keep it going Ben. It is a great information space unlike Facebook which has a attention span of 10 seconds for that instant gratification followed by disappointment before another topic and then you never find it again.
