Ive sold the TC Coupe!
Well ive gone and sold my Marina TC Coupe.
..said i never would! The story is that i shall be moving house very soon and with all the work to be be done decorating etc there will unfortunately be no time to start work on the marina and no garage for it! rather then leave it outside for ages doing nothing or to rust ive decided to sell it to a classic car dealer i know nr Thirsk who is going to get it MOT`d and have the work done i was hoping to do (repair small rust areas and repaint + seats recovered) like me martin is into classic cars himself and wants the marina for his own use...and for what he has paid me for it i can assure you all it won`t get used as parts for an MGB!...i still love the old marinas and will look out for another beauty when the time is right, might even buy back my TC! ...i will still be looking in on you guys on here and adding my findings on the bay...pete

I will keep intouch Ben as there are some real nice guys on here...i thought about asking you guys but as ive read lately on the forum you all seem to have more than enough Marinas to be going on with! and i did need to sell quite quickly,my house sold far faster than i anticipated leaving sale of the Marina the only sensible option (no time to even sort it for MOT) i sold the Marina in exchange for a rather nice Cortina Crusader with full MOT and no work needed to be used daily and i hope it will not dissolve without a garage!...please don`t knock me for buying a Ford Cortina the MK5 is going the same way as the Marina, most have gone to the banger lads...i hope to get another Marina TC coupe when garage space and more time are in my favour...if i can find another gem?? pete

Thanks Josh....The Marina IS A BETTER CAR, if you remember reading a while back the deal when i got the Marina was supposed to be with a full MOT (but it didn`t happen!) and at that time i`d not decided to move, but with the house move going so fast lately there was no time to even sort the MOT, also to do what the Coupe deserved i would need garage space, you always find the perfect house comes with no bl**dy garage...i shall be having a double garage though, eventually!...pete :roll:JoshWard wrote:knock you for buying a Cortina? they're great cars! obviously the Marina's better thoughwhy didnt you get a roadworthy Marina to use daily though? 8)

How do you know that my TC Coupe has been sold by the dealer for £1500 + ive not seen it for sale anywhere?...he was not an MG dealer, he assured me he wanted it for his own use once it was through an MOT and he wanted a good paint job and seats recovered (as i would have done if i had the time and storage at my new house) i would sooner have given it away to one of you lads if i knew he would sell it straight away to make a quick buck!.
..ok i got it for next to nothing and i got what i thought was a very good price for a car with no T&T but making money was never why i bought it, i just love the old Marinas and many other classic cars...pete

I for one hope it`s not true Pete, but i have known a lot of car dealers over the years...enough to know you can`t trust em` when it comes to making a quick killing
, lets all hope he is one of the good guys and that he will keep his word, sorry you had to let her go, i have a feeling you will regret it as gifts like that don`t come along very often.

I already do regret selling the TC!
...it was the sensible thing to do really as i couldn`t have left her outside in all weathers, she`s worth better treatment, i know what you mean about car dealers though "lowest form of life" but i can`t see any dealer making much on a Marina?? ...ive also sold my other classic which was always garaged (mint peugeot 205 gti) in time i hope to find another gem of a Marina, but for now i can enjoy lookin and reading about your cars on here lads, i dont have the same feeling for the cortina mk5 i bought and can happily see it sat out in the rain, just hope it doesn`t dissolve too soon!...pete

8) my special sits outside all the time in all weathers.because its not in a garage doesnt mean it wont rust. personally i would have kept it outside. now it seems you are regretting it. i wasnt happy with my special at first but now it has been painted i wouldnt part with it because i know i would regret and where else would i get a special never welded like new underneath with 19023 genuine miles. it wont happen.
something else will turn up for you. ebay is throwing up cars from out of the blue lately..........good luck........larry.
