I DON'T BELIEVE IT,rarest car in Britian another one found !

Post by The original northen boy » Thu Apr 03, 2008 10:00 am

As Victor Meldrew said ....."I don't believe it"
the second Marina find in the space of four days (well almost this ones an Ital)
On a visit to a client, this morning i noticed through his kitchen window two houses away sat in a neighbours back garden a red faded Ital.

Before i left i went round and had a word with the the fella who's car it was, cutting a short story even shorter, the Ital was a 1983 "A" reg (as stated on a piece of broken number plate on the front seat) a 1.3 SL 79,445 miles on the clock the car had not moved since failing it's MOT test in 1997(test-failure certificate still in glove box,and it failed on loads and loads)

He has used the car for outside storage since then, i can honestly say as much as i hate to this car is "fit only for spares" (rust, rust and more rust!!!)

Now the best bit is the bloke thinks it's worth a great deal more than it is, as he said to me "rare vees tha nose" (rare these you know) this is Barnsley by the way..
His source "it werr on't telly, none left nar (it was on the television, not many left now) " it'll bi wurth five-hundred no danger" ( it's worth £500 no problem)
As i left i thought dream on mate,so much for the Auto Express, the legend just grows and grows...

 Beckett Bros "ok we now know the truth"

I also think the reason why motors dont sell (well up here in Scotlandshire & North of Englandshire) is because people these days cant be arsed travelling for the cars. To me travelling the length and width of the country is part of the fun in the classic car hobby. I for one am not shy to travel, whether it be by Bus, Train or Plane and Raymond'o will testify to this as I dragged him on a 4 hour train journey to assist me in collecting a van from Doncaster! I also flew to Southampton to collect Pete Woods Mk1 coupe and that was just about the length of the country, again Pete can confirm this!

Happy days eh!!!

its ok collecting them but where do u put them all, id travel anywhere to pick up the right one but ive got no where to store them, the mk3 is in the bodyshop and the mk1 im getting is going in my garage, but another marina will come about im sure in the next couple of months that i will take a fancy to but ill have no where to put it, like you all say you get the bug and i have but ive got nowhere to put em, but if a good one turns up how can you turn it down.
