I spoke to an old motor trade mate today, and between the excitement of the Grand National,he asked me if i had considered getting the "pick-up "on the road again, yes i said i would like to for this summer",he then went on to tell me how his boss had taken his 67 E-Type over to Poland for a full restoration (and they don't just the expensive stuff) the cost of the labour he informed me was that much cheaper in comparison to the labour costs in the UK, that even with all the ferry charges petrol/diesel costs, trailer hire, and hotel accommodation you could still save as much as half on the same job over here!
I wasn't that impressed but he said " the reputable Polish car restorers are to a very high standard, and as over here their work is guaranteed"
I will have to see a finished job before i pass judgement,i personally think the negatives outweigh the positives ,what do you do if a shut line is out,or a patch of orange peel is visible?
You just can't pop it back to have a tidy up can you,???
do you therfore, pay cheap and pay twice??
Has anybody else come across this method of restoration before?
