Front Anti-Roll Bar

Post by Muskydo » Tue May 13, 2008 9:29 pm

Just got around to starting work on my second pickup, even better condition than I first believed.Stripped out front suspension to replace trunnions and ball joints but it doesn't really need them.Just aquired Anti-Roll bar, does anyone know if these will fit with tele-dampers,the lower mounting bracket looks very close to the drop link, haven't tried to fit it yet still cleaning it up.Anyone have any pics with tele-dampers and roll bar :?:
Cheers
Steve

If its a mk1 then you wont have any antiroll bar mounts on the chassis and will need to cut/drill holes to mount it.
Im in the process of mounting a damper kit and an antiroll bar on my mk1 and after a dry run it all just about misses each other, although the bottom position of the shock is so far in towards the chassis pivot point Im not sure how good/effective it will be!.....got to be better than the stock setup though

8) Hi Steve, not sure which set up you have, but i know some of them will not clear the lower mount, i recently fitted the Ital set up to my convertible (see Franks other pics in uncle franks workshop) there are some photos of that set up on there

Hi every bodies, thanks for replies, my pick ups are both 1983's so both have tele dampers as original equipment, the anti roll bar came off a Y-plated Ital saloon with lever arm dampers, all the chassis brackets are there with mine,it's just that when you offer it up into position the drop links are ever so close to the lower damper mounts, perhaps I'll have to go all out to make it fit, as long as it doen't touch it should be o.k. I'll let you all know next week when I get another chance to get out and get under.
Cheers

Hi Frank
I've just finished fitting my anti roll bar, and yes it does fit and yes it is very close to damper brackets but fit it does so I am now a fairly happy bunny.
Cheers

8) Well done Steve, you should now be reaping the benefits of anti roll bar heaven now mate! ...seriously though, they do make a big difference, especially on a 1.8. Glad to be of help  .

Nice one Frank,
I'm afraid Pickup02 is still a fair way from active service yet,but from what I am seeing it shoudn't be to much work to make it right, a few small welding jobs.none apparently from the normal rust places, but rather from minor accident damage that as not been sorted.I was hoping to have him (proper geezers car)at shows this year but; the wife will no doubt have other ideas. Will post pics of progress soon. Do you know what colour my pick up is? it's 1983 blue (darker)there should be pics of it somewhere on here, because the body work, looks like it will be a dodle, although not necessarily quick (see previous note on wife)so perhaps end of summer I might be on the road!
Cheers again
Steve

Hi Steve, the blue they used on pick-ups for that year would probably be Eclipse blue, or if it`s slightly lighter Nautilus blue  , if you can find a pic i will tell you for sure mate. :)

Cheers Frank, I had a 82 Metro in Nautilus blue and yes it does look very similar, I thought that I had posted pics of my blue truck on here, but now I can't find them, perhaps it was on the old forum! Sometime over the weekend I will post some on here if I can remember how :!:
Watch this space
Thanks
Steve :)
