Why don't commercials come to outdoor shows very often?

Over the years and discounting the last MMOC National as a blip, why don't many people come to shows in their commercial?

Is it because there aren't many in good nick to show, is it that the owners of working vans/pickups don't want to drive them at weekends, is it that owners think that punters won't be interested.

I for one would be very happy to see more.

Anyone have a view?

Maybe its the fact that a lot of people who own old commercials feel that nobody would be that interested and would be more interested in the cars.

On the other hand, some people may use them daily as working vehicles, and as you said chris may not be up to the same standards as a car.

I for one would show a van etc at a show whatever the condition as most people seem to forget that these types of vehicles were never designed to be in mint condition. These vehicles were designed for working and helping people to earn a living.

At the BMC/BL Peterborough show on Sunday, there were commercials everywhere - also campers including about 20 Suntors (A50s/A55s/1 Marina/Sherpas/J4s).

It can be done and people do appreciate them - particularly it seemed to me if the were sign-written or logo'd up - BT/AA/Royal Mail etc.

My favourite was an Aussie Morris 1800 Ute (pickup), it was possibly a ringer but it looked great.

I'd like to see more vans and pickups at shows. I dont care what condition cars or commercial vehicles on display are. I like to see restored vehicles, original vehicles and tatty vehicles.

Ay up every body,couple of reasons i guess why so many of the commercials don't make it to the shows in the numbers the other models do.

Their numbers are a lot less,than the other models made.
Their survival rate is a lot less (due to their original usage)
Their conditions is often not prestige (or even fair) thus putting of an owner who doesn't want to feel their vehicle is not to the required standard.
Their owned by real men who would rather be out,drinking womanising and getting involved in punch ups than attending shows.

And to Paul's response the pick-up sound levels are comparable to their car counter parts if you add the additional sound proofing,but the vans are a fair amount louder than the saloons or coupes.

A bigger commerical show i was at on Sunday was Truckfesr at Inglisyon.not just trucks or even new stuff.Everything from an Auatin champ upwards was there.Most off it was mint but not all Lots off recovery vehickes there.I thourgly enjoyed it even though trucks arnt usually my thing.Just a pity a lot off trucks were leaving the back off 4 when officially it didnt close until 6 but a greast dya none the less
