Last club mag?
I was wondering what the latest club mag is? The last I have is autumn 2008 and I'm guessing there should be a winter one too?

Re: Last club mag?
Hi Josh,
Yes there is a Winter magazine which came out over Xmas/New Year.
The person to speak to is the membership secretary, whose details are on the front of the club website.

Re: Last club mag?
I have emailed a couple of people from the club several times ( even once offering them money  ) and although they have mentioned they have received them ( when met face to face ) have never replied to them like they promised.JoshWard wrote:Sent an email on the 2nd and still no reply...
Since joining this owners club I have found some people extremly good and helpful while others, shall we say, lacking. Dont get me wrong, I think its a good owners club but compared to other forums/clubs etc I belong to, this one could be so much better.

Re: Last club mag?
Well you know what the answer is Balmy?....Get involved!, after years of being involved with the club i have always noticed one thing, when it all comes down to it there are always a fine few who actually get involved with the club and actually volunteer their services, please bear in mind people,...All club staff are UNPAID VOLUNTEERS who give up some of their spare time to do their bit for the Marina Owners amongst you, none of us are perfect, but we are at least doing something to keep the cars on the road.balmy wrote:I have emailed a couple of people from the club several times ( even once offering them money  ) and although they have mentioned they have received them ( when met face to face ) have never replied to them like they promised.JoshWard wrote:Sent an email on the 2nd and still no reply...

Now i`m not having a go at anyone personally here BUT, over the years the club has had its problems, as have many other clubs (many of which are no longer around), this is often down to personal differences between members, officials, or money.
The one thing that always shines through is that the members that moan the most are the ones that put in the least effort themselves, to do something for the club, i have sat through many AGM`s listening to all these people coming up with all these ideas but when it comes to volunteers to actually do something about them, they suddenly go all coy and hope some other mug will take up the challenge for them!.
Just to give you a little insight into the life of being a "club official" i will give you a quick example of the sort of things we do on a daily basis...1, answer phone calls at all hours of the day from every Tom, Dick or Harry who has an old Marina they want to get rid of, or technical queries, or someone who desperately needs a spare part, none of which i personally mind but the Wife does get a bit fed up sometimes
If anyone has a problem in the future, contact the relevant club official first and if you do not get a satisfactory answer, get in touch with me and i will try and sort it for you, this forum is not really the place to discuss personal problems with any club business, the club has its own site for contact of that sort, and of course there is always the AGM!
Re: Last club mag?
Well said Uncle Frank,
I am chairman and show secretary of a local ,all comers, classic car club of 70 members and can appreciate all the work, time and cost that the committee and helpers put in for a bigger national club. It is always the odd few that do all the work and DON'T complain. To all committee members please keep up the good work on our behalf and for our cars.
Brian

Re: Last club mag?
Sorry if I came across as 'moaning'. It wasnt my intention.
I just feel that if you volouteer to do something then you also take on the responsability thats goes with it. I speak from experience-I have spent a full day for each of the last 3 weekends helping people from a bike club ( some people I have never met before ) helping them with problems/servicing etc I just wish I did have more time to help out with other clubs/forums I belong to.
My point though was a couple of people not doing something they promised. I wasnt expecting a response immediatly, just some time would have been nice. Unfortunately sometimes the point expressed doesnt not come across right on forums and my wife often says I dont express things clearly.
Like I said, I didnt intend to cause offence. My apologies.

Re: Last club mag?
8) No offence taken Balmy, i wasn`t having a go at you personally, just a general perception that often comes across from the membership at times, we are only here to help, but sometimes family has to come first, also bear in mind that people often take on these tasks because no one else will! , it`s not always a case of commitment.
May i take this opportunity to say what a fantastic job Joe and Jason have made of your TC mate, it looks the business, i`m looking forward to seeing her at the national!
