ITV4 Classic Gear

Post by Martec » Thu Apr 23, 2009 4:39 pm

Hi All,

Did anyone else see Classic Gear on ITV4 (freeview 28), Wednesday 7pm. It was for an hour and tried to cover a wide spectrum of classics, 1930's Aston Martin, Cadillac, E type Jaguar and an early Allegro.

I expected the usual slagging off of BL but the presenter seemed very even handed and complimented its good points. I'll watch next weeks one to see if it degrades into a 'clarkson'.

I saw this today for the first time, and the fella that did the feature was very even handed, and did not criticism for criticisms sake (like a Clarkeson piece) i thought the "Spud" came out pretty well overall, but one thing i wasn't keen on they kept showing the same piece of on the road footage over and over again (at least four times) very cheap and unprofessional.

Overall though the Classic Gear programme was a well balanced report on the humble British leyland Flying Pig" even if he did mention the old standby that "the Allegro was more aerodynamic going backwards than forwards) but don't fall too much for this old classic line although true,a lot of cars are especially cars with a sloping hatchback have this similarity, the reason is pretty simple, the front of the car is where the air intake fittings are and this effectively increases drag.

i am sure that i read somewhere that most cars are more aerodynamic backwards than forwards, jason dawe is not bad and he was one of the original presenters of the revamped top gear untill he left at the end of series 1 or 2.

he also does used car roadshow which is also very good beiong rooted in the real world...

wonder if he can do a roadtest of a marina....
