Coupe Found In Local Garage

Post by ClaytonSpeed » Mon Sep 10, 2007 11:30 am

A week ago the Morris Marina Owners Club got a phone call from a lady looking to sell her late fathers Marina Coupe. The car was practically down the road from us so we said that we would pop over and take a look at the car and offer some selling advice.

The car turned out to be something very special. We arrived early on Sunday morning to be told that the garage had been sealed shut by her farther and we would need to carefully open the garage and expose the car that had been sat for over 20 years!

This is what we were faced with!

The car was covered over and seemed to be well protected. The car is a 1300 Mk3 Coupe with only 28,000 miles on the clock..

Engine bay all there.

The car is a 1300L. Fantastic condition and with a FULL Service history. All stamps present and correct.

The car was purchased from our local BL dealer of the time Park Side of Coventry in 1979. Certainly a local car with it's "RW" registration.

The lady would like to sell the car in it's current state as she has no knowledge of mechanics and would rather it go to a home that appreciates such a rare car. The club will be liaising with any potential owners around February/March time of next year. This is when the estate of her parents will be sold.

Any interested party’s should contact a committee member of the MMOC for information. Sensible Offers in the region of £700. The MMOC makes no money from the sale of this car; it is mealy facilitating the sale of this rare example.

WOW. I really hope the Minor Bodgers don't get this one, they'd pay a fortune for the engine alone.........
The classic car movement needs Jeremy Clarkson like Jenson Button needs a towhitch and a Sprite Musketeer....

The car will not go eBay that is for certain. The car wants an owner that will appreciate both the historical and rarity of the car. After all it is not every day you find a low milage car in origional condition.

I think now the Owners Club is becoming more a presevation socioty than anything! I see there is another 1300 on the bay thats been stripped.. Bloody shame.
