dissapointing day

Post by leto » Sat Nov 07, 2009 8:37 pm

Hi ,

Went on a four hundred mile trip to day in leto to get some bits of a ital that was on ebay being broken.

You lot probaly spotted it its been on twice once with a massive set of alloys and once being broken its got a mk 1 front end on it.

Any way had to do half day at work so set of at 11 with tools and angle grinder the car looked good in photos so i asked how much he wanted for wings and doors to sort out some of my rust issues price was good and whilst i was driving up i thought might as well get what i can

Arrive after 3 hours (got v lost ..) arrived and had a look over car turns out the guy is nicking the running gear for a minor :twisted: and the poor things only done 30k.I couldn't bring my self to cut it up seemed like madness to cut an excellent shell to weld up a crap one the bloke offered me the whole shell for cheap., but obviously i had no way of transporting it.

So now i'm stuck ;

Mind says get it and swap over running gear and no more welding.

heart says leto wouldn't be leto if i did this and i'm quite attached to him :oops:

What to do :?:

just swap it all over, but no doubt you will get the usual negative folk who are all so correct in what they do and have never done anything wrong in there life.I would do it if i had a top notch shell cause at the end of the day you have to prove it and with no stamps and only a vin plate to change the chance of that is very slim.

Swap it over & don't worry about it. You'd only destroy a 30K shell trying to get the bits you need off it anyway as you say. At least it does'nt go to the crusher if you use the shell.

Yep i would swap it over too given the chance much easier saving a really good shell, if the mg owners of the world can buy a brand new body for there car and put all the parts on it and claim its original then why not us use a decent second hand one, at the end of the day no one would really know, try to make a deal with the guy to leave it as a rolling shell that way transportation would be easier, there is a lad i know who has got marinas he had my old tc who has got a recovery truck he maybe able to help ? forum name MADMART.

Yeah i guess its a bit of a no brainer really the more i think about it the more sense it makes the guy wants all running gear and loom

Thing is at minute i'm half way through sorting out my girl friends mini and building up a bike, so will have to see if he can hang on to it for a while he has still got to strip it any way :cry:

Lee if you could ask your mate that would be cool i have looked in to hiring a trailer and borrowing my brothers car wich has a tow bar would work out about £150 with petrol and hire cost, the car is near birmingham.
