TC Coupe MSJ 758 N
This car cropped up over on retro-rides http://retrorides.proboards.com/index.c ... read=70562. Anyone know anything about it?

The classic car movement needs Jeremy Clarkson like Jenson Button needs a towhitch and a Sprite Musketeer....

I think that belongs or was Tony's...Free? (cant remember his surname) . Jim bought his green TC coupe from him years ago. Thought that purple coupe was dead and long gone! Looks a bit worst for wear now though
It was in poor shape when i last saw it and that was 17-18 years ago!!

It would be great to restore this car - I hope somebody does.
Has not been taxed since 1988!
Does anybody know how many TC Coupé are still on the planet?

That would be interesting to know.Greg Whitaker wrote:Does anybody know how many TC Coupé are still on the planet?
Have been wondering if there is any way to find this out from the licensing authorities in the countries where Marinas were sold. I know we can search by rego number here in NZ (and also in the UK?), but not by make or model. Might be able to make a request under the Official Information Act, or perhaps can be requested directly from the licensing authorities? Will have to make some enquiries...

Probably the first Marina TC coupe in a museum (Gaydon only has a TC saloon with the safety nose unless they have sold it.....).Fille wrote:There are at least two of them in Finland, I have one and there's another in the Espoo motor museum.
I am very interested to know which colour the car in the Finnish museum is - hopefully a rare one and not the usual flame red !

Re: TC Coupe MSJ 758 N
In the mid 70s Roy Axe designed a series of 'Safety Cars', ahead of the forthcoming US legislation on pedestrian safety, passenger safety and the 5mph no damage crash protection.
It's one of the reasons that the TR7 has the bumpers that it was 'blessed' with.
One of the styling exercises was a Marina saloon for the US market and as they only got 1.8s over in the US, they did the styling exercise on a TC. Evidently the retooling costs were so great it is one of the reasons that the Marina was dropped from the US BL line-up. It was the same thinking that got the MGB its rubber nose and tail.
