Someone walked away with a bargain! looking at the photos that car was proper sorted. It would still be a bargain I bet, to pay that for it and ship it over here. What a beauty.I wonder if we will see it in action in the future?

Hi, Just bought the said TC. It is the car driven by Jim Richards in the 1972 Rally of NZ. It was part of of a four car works team entered by NZ MotorCorp GC1 Marnina Coupe, GC2 Marina Coupe, GC3 Mini Clubman and GC4 also a Min Clubman.
It is the genuine article and we have all the paperwork to establish that even down to the MG body plate(still attached to the car) which identifies it as a works car that was taken from the production line and sent to the competitions Dept for modification. Sorry but its not going to the UK just yet :D

Nice one Don!, Glad to see it has gone to a good home, i have some photos of that car before it was sent to NZ, they are still available from the heritage museum at Gaydon in Warwickhire, if you want copies i can give you the neg numbers, sorry i can`t just scan them for you and send them, unfortunately they are copyright photo`s and i cannot risk doing so with these particular shots.
As Paul said, can we see some more detailed shots of the rear suspension mods, Turrets etc in the boot?
Great to see at least the Kiwi`s appreciate the old Marina Rally cars, and look after them!

You got a bargain, Don. :o

Hopefully you can get Gentleman Jim to have a drive in 2012, for the 40th anniversary. The WRC organisers might even pay for it, as a publicity stunt. 8)
