If it works properly keep it.

A rev counter is for me a very useful aid to make sure that I cruise at economical revs, change gear up at the right time, change down at the right time and dont blow the engine by over revving.

About 10 years ago I was night delivering an auto 1.3 missing gear selection labels and with no lights working on the speedo for a friend and I inadvertantly shagged the engine over revving at about 50mph because the car didnt change up.

I'd keep it, it's part of the history of the car.

If you loose it the holes in the dash will annoy you more than the rev counter does...

If my car didn't have one I'd say lose it in my direction- I think it's ace!

But I do have fluffy dice, tigerskin seat covers and a pool ball gear knob in my car so my opinion might not be valid

Who set the "tell tale" to 3,600 revs - bit low isn't it?

I set the tell tail at just under 4000 rpm because that is exactly 50mph! The speedo is a bit vague!!
If I removed it I would get the holes smart repaired. There is a crack in the dash that needs doing anyway. I'm in two minds whether to keep it. I expect it's been there for most of the cars life.

it's there and it does the job, and it does have the period look, so I'd keep it. :)

Fitted the exact same rev counter in my first Mini, back in 1979. 8)

IMHO if I wanted a rev counter in an early Marina, I'd track down a 3-dial dash with the factory rev counter. My old Marina Coupe had the 3-dial dash (but with a clock), so I replaced the clock with the factory rev counter. :D
