That picture has it all: 70's bleakness, Trains and Marinas. The only way it could be better would be if it was raining and it was black and white!

Superb shot, full of atmosphere. The Hymek diesel hydraulic loco (the green one) must have been near the end of its life by then. Most of them were withdrawn during 1971/2, just five surviving until 1975. They regularly worked trains on the Cowley branch line. The class 45 Peak loco was withdrawn in 1988 and scrapped in 1990. Its hard to believe that vehicles used to be transported like that open to the elements and vandalism. If they did that today there'd be nutters lining the trackside chucking stones and taking potshots with air rifles.
